Well kind of, but with a playoff it might be more productive to play conservatively than it would be without it? Because you can come out of the bunch in a way you couldn't if you were looking at a rubbishy tiebreak score.

Carlsen just seems to have a way to make his opponents play like babies. I hope Kovalev doesn't go back to his room and hang himself. Do you think it's Carlsen per se, though, or just it's really hard to finish off chess games against much better players? It's not like (say) football where if you h...
