Re: Prize Money is Out of Control

Hi Jack, Well done, the cheque is in the mail. Hi Justin, "Do we have any evidence that collusion in sport is particularly linked to the quantity of money available?" Are you talking sport in general. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_match_fixing_incidents Or just Chess and collusion. https://...

Re: Prize Money is Out of Control

Of course they deserve something but this kind of money could breed temptation for collusion which we have all witnessed when players carve up a weekend event for a share of a paltry £1,000. Do we have any evidence that collusion in sport is particularly linked to the quantity of money available?

Re: 2018 World Championship in London

Ray and Byron's book is out and Olimpiu has reviewed it. How many active chess players are there in the world, do you think?

Re: ECF to scrap its grading system

I don't have much direct interest in this, but on general principle I am very much in favour of ECF systems and policies being designed to favour newer rather than older players.

"A lot of the sports that Eurosport shows could be considered fairly niche (particularly in the UK) so I’m not sure that chess is hugely out-of-place. Re: AGM Minutes

It's not wildly important, but just on general principle if somebody has a comment attributed to them it's good if a primary source can be located.

Re: AGM Minutes

How curious. There's no given source for the comment in the piece, and if the suggestion is that he said it on Twitter, I can't find it there. Similarly this piece.
