Re: WANTED - Chess Stars - Mikhail Tal Games vol. IV 1982-1992
Err ... thanks for the replies and don't want to sound ungrateful but this book "want" was posted three years ago ! As John M. mentioned, those Chess Stars game collections are always in demand but trying to find them at sensible prices is difficult. I think I tried to buy Bob Jones' copies at Kever...

Was there a play-off rule in the 1948 world championship?
If Botvinnik had tied rather than won, would there have been a play-off? Excuse my ignorance but was this rule already around?

WANTED - Chess book collections
I am always looking to purchase chess book collections, either modern or older titles, but not beginners' books or Informants. I am especially interested in large collections and now that lockdown will hopefully be easing, it will be easier to view and/or collect. If you or anyone you know wishes to...

Re: An improvement on The Queen's Gambit?
Hi MjM, What I am thinking about is all the people who enjoyed the TV show ( I've still not see it, the review in December Chess by John Henderson gives it a smashing write up with loads of background stuff that I had not read before.) where was I... Oh yes...What I am thinking about is all the peo...

Notes on the Life of Howard Staunton
Does anyone have a copy of John Townsend's book " Notes on the Life of Howard Staunton" ( 2011) that they would be willing to sell me ? I've already asked John - he doesn't have any left. I have copies of his later book " Historical Notes on Some Chess Players" but a customer is hoping to obtain the...

BCF Book of the Year 1990
Does anyone know which book which won this ?
I can't seem to find a list of past winners online which go back that far.
A customer has informed me that 1989 went to Winter's book on Capablanca and 1991 to Dvoretsky's Secret of Chess Training.
Thanks.

Re: what's a good alternative to the DRUEKE 8" travel magnetic chess set ?
Thanks.
Yes, I did look at that one already but it doesn't have the raised edges.
My husband has the plastic set where the board is built into the base of the box and thus has a 2cm raised edge which makes it easy to hold vertically.

what's a good alternative to the DRUEKE 8" travel magnetic chess set ?
I'm trying to replace my husband's Drueke 8"/20cm travel magnetic set but it's no longer in production. Amongst its attractions: 1) Easy to hold at an angle/vertically when studying, due to size and the raised sides ( it's a boxed set) 2) Discarded pieces fit around the edge of the board Does anyone...
