Re: Candidates Tournament 2020

For sure, I was just thinking that from Giri's point of view that half-point gap may look a little bigger than that He also has black against MVL & Caruana. So he's gonna have to be rock solid and make the White pieces count. Possible, but difficult. As it gets close to the wire, we don't know who'...

Re: Candidates Tournament 2020

I don't see why 2 tablebases would be different: they show ALL positions and moves leading to a win or draw. Sure but it doesn't seem to display the same information as the Nalimov site does, so I don't know if I'm missing something What information dont you see? It gives which moves win or draw an...

Oh that's interesting. There's a version of it on a creaky Shredder site that worked for a bit (and then didn't) but is there a reliable version anywhere?

Re: Hansen on Nakamura

Interesting that Nakamuras possible unpopularity with his peers is counterbalanced by being easily the most popular online chess personality.

As for the unpopular English GM - that has stumped me. I thought our "top" 3 "young" players were all very affable and popular.

Re: Cheating in chess

There was a junior playing in the London League who is 1550 Fide / 140 ecf. His captain said he believes he is now 2100+.
I checked his Lichess ratings and they had basically gone from 1700 to 2300 at all time controls over 1 year.
