Re: ECF AGM 2018

I hope a role can be found for Tim at some point. He strikes me as a great enthusiast for uk chess. and might add balance and a northern voice in chess circles.

Re: DIV 3 North..more teams wanted..

Another Stockport League or Cheshire based team or another Merseyside team would not go amiss either. A speedy return from Notts would also be welcome I think. Maybe a season battling with the Div 4 lot might sober them up a bit. Meanwhile , can I also call on the North East to come forth with anoth...

Re: DIV 3 North..more teams wanted..

I thought that another team from the North East was considering joining the fray.. We certainly don't want to look to reducing the North league any further if we can avoid it.. as for the scope to expand, there are areas that are either under represented or not represented still in the north who it ...

Re: Division Four (South) 2017-18

maybe its time to draw a line on the UK map and say take teams from south of that line as the `south`..
the line could run roughly from Shrewsbury to Kings Lynn perhaps to see if the leagues could be better balanced..` North` and `South`.. ?

Re: DIV 3 North..more teams wanted..

It is disappointing to see these teams drift south, leaving the North to try to fill the gaps. Maybe some rule changes to see more teams in div 3 North would be good. It is a strong group so definitely merits good support... I hope more teams from the northern areas will come forward, and maybe the ...

Re: DIV 3 North..more teams wanted..

I`m sure your suggestion is good John...but you have also to consider the spread of venues to cater for `north` or `south` sections.. not easy, and I`m sure Mike and his team would welcome suggestions from `locals`... Its certainly disappointing to see teams from Notts heading south.. `for travel re...

Re: North Wales Congress 2018: Change of Date

The entry numbers are rising for the Llandudno `North Wales congress` but still a bit light in the OPEN section. With the top two sections being FIDE rated and good prize money on offer, this event deserves a higher level of support, so we`ll see what the numbers are next w/e when battle commences. ...

Re: North Wales Congress 2018: Change of Date

I guess the tourist information centre will be kept busy with enquiries, but the north west based chess players might go for the Friday night bye ...and commute that weekend.

Re: DIV 3 North..more teams wanted..

North East England is considering entering a 2nd team again - subject to making sure we have sufficient interest and an on-site captain for the team. We'll suss out support over the Summer and see where we get to. Good luck with that Paul.. certainly a few new faces would be welcome and if we could...

DIV 3 North..more teams wanted..

With the end of another season of 4ncl chess, we can look ahead to next season after the summer `break`.. It looks like some new teams would be very welcome next season in the Div 3 North section. Can any of our northern groups oblige with some new teams...maybe from Derbyshire, South Yorks, Lancash...

Re: Victory for the Dinosaurs

I think the idea here is to allow representation at the national stages for all regions, therefore having combined teams for East And West of England might be worth considering.... just for the OPEN section that is/.

Re: Victory for the Dinosaurs

Alan, I asked the same question of the MCCU at the start of the season, and was told that it should be possible to claim the MCCU nomination, provided the request came in by Dec 31st I kept raising this at MCF council meetings, but was told that you were now not available to captain the team. Can I ...

Re: County Championship Consultation

People make the mistake of comparing the 4NCL with the counties championships. These are two quite different events, catering for differing needs, and with quite different frameworks. The fact that 4NCL has had good success over several years is a good thing and shows that a certain demand is being ...
