Re: Swiss Manager - Help Needed

Thanks to a few recent meetings with other SM users (experienced users and converts) I will update the file https://docs.google.com/document/d/1bX4Fufzttc4wAG2Zfuv-SlQmsLmFR_EALotkTkfTLAM/edit?usp=sharing and I have also added a simple ECF to FIDE conversion chart which you can print out, the might ...

I had agreed to play in an away County fixture. I had some regrets, as there was a normally well organised congress I would have liked to play in that weekend, just a few miles from my County match venue.
I wondered where you were...

Re: FIDE payment site: Player license over-the-board 1yr 60.00 EUR

However, when I come to rate the tournament, it is not enough to be FID - I am usually advised by the ECF that the player must be aligned to a FIDE nation. In other words ENG or RUS. So is there any point in being FID if you are going to play over the board rated events?

Average of all graded players in the UK

What is it?

Is it higher than the average of all the FIDE rated players in the UK (when converted)?

Are we higher on average than all nationally (as opposed to internationally) rated Germans or Icelandic rated players?

Are we improving?

Re: 2017 King Salman World Rapid and Blitz Chess Championships, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, 26-30 December 2017

The commentary is very good, but as with the Nutcracker, the women's games are largely ignored. In Riyadh there is even a female commentator but she is also largely ignored (this appears to be improving as she gains confidence). Given that there are virtually limitless resources available why not ha...

Checking FIDE Registration of events

OK, I am sure I knew how to do this... but have forgotten!

How do I check all events registered with FIDE for, say, JER in 2018?

Re: Sultan Khan - A newly discovered game and a challenge

It would not take long to take a picture of every page in a scorebook and post it on Flickr for JS to enter the games into Britbase. Plus that would advertise the club to the world!

Re: Sultan Khan - A newly discovered game and a challenge

Hi the game in question. It is game no.83a in Aitken's Chess Scorebook which is at the Edinburgh Chess Club. This begs the question of whether the games of Aitken's scorebook have been entered into a database. If not, I would happily volunteer my services; as, perhaps, would other members of the fo...

Re: Random musing - scoresheet design

When I "designed" the scoresheets for Hampstead I dropped the diagram as nobody I knew seemed to use them (except players in the London League). The field for the Opening also seemed like a waste of space so I dropped that too! You need lots of space to write moves though... to encourage legibility....
