Re: World Youth Championships

He could be a new category of chess genius and should be treated that way. I think the ECF should consider funding his development straight away. He would of course need to be assessed in person by an expert panel first to assess the level of funding. Not helping Nick. To be clear, you read through...

Re: The South of England Junior Congress 2019

Thanks Andrew for series of well run tournaments. The Warwickshire contingent had a great time and I'm certain many will return next year.

Re: ECF Grading Database

It's a real pain Have I got this right? 1) GDPR is being used as the reason not to show children's school year on the online list? 2) Showing childrens full name, gender and their school and/or chess club is OK? 3) If you are a top player for your age (school year) it is OK to show your age (or to b...

Re: The South of England Junior Congress 2019

Re: ECF arbiting at Aberystwyth - FIDE perspective

If you attempt to apply rules designed for serious chess playing adults to U8s these situations are inevitable. If nothing else it gives hope to pedantic parents that they can use the letter of the law to further their child's chess "career". My opinion for what it's worth - make it clear that the s...

I'm very sad to hear this. I knew him well in the early 80s when we were kids and he was a genuinely nice person, as was his entire family. My thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.
