Re: World Senior Team Championships, Dresden 2018

And Lasker might win 4-0 to boot. Well, er, how are the 65+ doing? Chess 24 is showing it as 4 draws; France lost to Russia 1 who finish on 18/18; St Petersburg and Germany 2 are on 14 with England 1 on 13; other teams might reach 13 too Nigel Povah finishes with a 7-1 record, and might get a board...

I suspect that the decision will be who takes black on 3 with Jon and John having rested in recent rounds and Keith scoring heavily on 4. No, Keith s...

Re: County Championship Finals

The nationals have not always been contested in the late spring and early summer. Prior to WW2 the Championships were held in the Michaelmas term with qualification being from the season before. That is very interesting and not something of which I was previously aware. I would need considerable pe...

Re: World Senior Team Championships, Dresden 2018

Great result today; hope for another tomorrow, and USA winning or drawing pairings

There are 8 teams on 10 points rankings, so there may be other possible final round opponents than Germany 1
