Re: Sam Shankland......

Pretty sure Geoff was just trying to be funny. It's got nothing to do with Ramsay or cooking. I've just watched the first episode. Was all right but I wouldn't watch it again. There's a bit about it on Chessbase news.

Re: WC Match 2016 - New York 10-30 November

Does anyone know what time the tiebreaks start on Wednesday? I assume it's the same time but not sure.

Apologies if this has already been asked...

Re: Whilst I wait for Caruana to reply

I wouldn't be winning every game against players of my own standard, let alone anyone in the world (Carlsen!). It's not a good move but it's not going to make that much difference.

Re: Question regarding dispute

As far as pursuing any claim after the game it seems like logically the result should stand.

Re: In Flight Chess

I played the Kasparov checkmate about a week ago and yes it was a total joke even on the hardest setting. I knew it probably wasn't going to be great when I saw it was registered year 2001 or something. Bizarrely, I then changed planes at Muscat and the next plane, despite being the same airline had...

Re: Chess terms

Not much danger of more than a draw. I'd still be a little concerned as Black.

Re: Closed Sicilian with 6 Be3

That's pretty surprising. I lost a game to Tim Spanton when I was in my teens with this theme, colours reversed in a Botvinnik English. I've since seen the idea countless times, although White can still grovel on with 0-0.

Re: World Rapid & Blitz Championships

DId you try again? I have no problem in Ireland but also I am a Premium member of chess24. Still the same after a refresh but not a problem as there's the Isle of Man, Women's Grand Prix, rugby and my coaching in less than half an hour to more than compensate for commentary I probably wouldn't use ...

Re: Michael Uriely, 2006-2015

I'm absolutely shocked and totally devastated by this news. I've known Michael for several years, being one of the coaches at his school. An incredibly talented and enthusiastic player, but more importantly an incredibly sweet all round individual, mature beyond his years, popular with everyone that...
