Re: Andy Price

Sorry to hear this. He was one of the tournament stalwarts that I used to often get paired against as a junior in the seemingly endless series of Nuneaton and Leamington Rapidplays in the early or mid 90’s. Tough player and a good sport whatever the result - although his experience usually told.

Re: Sam Shankland......

Pretty sure Geoff was just trying to be funny. It's got nothing to do with Ramsay or cooking. I've just watched the first episode. Was all right but I wouldn't watch it again. There's a bit about it on Chessbase news.

Re: WC Match 2016 - New York 10-30 November

Does anyone know what time the tiebreaks start on Wednesday? I assume it's the same time but not sure.

Apologies if this has already been asked...

Re: Whilst I wait for Caruana to reply

I wouldn't be winning every game against players of my own standard, let alone anyone in the world (Carlsen!). It's not a good move but it's not going to make that much difference.

Re: Question regarding dispute

As far as pursuing any claim after the game it seems like logically the result should stand.

Re: In Flight Chess

I played the Kasparov checkmate about a week ago and yes it was a total joke even on the hardest setting. I knew it probably wasn't going to be great when I saw it was registered year 2001 or something. Bizarrely, I then changed planes at Muscat and the next plane, despite being the same airline had...

Re: Chess terms

I've no idea why it's not called rooking but as far as I was aware the '0's represent the number of empty spaces between the king and rook, two and three for kingside and queenside respectively.

Re: Closed Sicilian with 6 Be3

That's pretty surprising. I lost a game to Tim Spanton when I was in my teens with this theme, colours reversed in a Botvinnik English. I've since seen the idea countless times, although White can still grovel on with 0-0.
