Do any players/ commentators make any significant money from commentating, coaching, selling of dvds/online courses? Simon Williams, for example, seems to have a high profile.

Yes, images of tumbleweed! Another frustration in what little mainstream coverage there was, was the frequent reference to chess as a sport. The ECF, its supporters in Parliament and FIDE (Nigel?) should be constantly lobbying for sporting recognition despite past failed attempts.

I would always draw my opponent’s attention by pointing to the clock and if necessary quietly saying ‘clock’. There may not be a legal requirement but there is a moral one.
