Re: Reykjavik 2023
Just back, and confirm it was a fantastically organized event. The little details matter to us chess players so the free pens , individual water bottles, same day PGNs, (majority hand entered) and quick pairings were very welcome. Special events included a quiz, a blitz tournament, chess movie , che...

Re: 44th Blackpool Chess Conference
I thought the usual convention was to list the prize breakdown within days ?
More than a month has passed and still no published list of prize winners, who cares ?
It seems seniors prizes are to be shared ? I might be interested in seeing the breakdown for my section , but how ?

Re: Dave Robertson
Very sad news, genuinely lovely man, a brilliant mind, sharp and erudite.
I appreciated his wise council on ECF maters, later on FB I looked forward to his posts on art, poetry, and his amusing observations.
I will miss him.

Re: Foreign events
This is a cynical money grabbing exercise hitting the poorer families, maybe you don't want to sign up with the compulsory x academy but get your own private coach , so now you have to pay twice to play internationals.
removing choice impedes player development.

That's outrageous surely its enough to be registered with the national federation and be talented at the game, its not an opportunity for a third party training organisation to extort money from parents ...AND telling parents that only one of them can accompany the child is another unbelievable outr...
