Re: British Online Chess Championships 18th December 2020 to 3rd January 2021

David, thank you and I will calm down. I want the rule of one person in the room removed. My partner will be here - she had a stroke. I will see if my employers will let the software apps through the firewall. Not sure on why no touch screen. We use at work for both councils and a standard disabilit...

I will contact the organiser as my partner will be recovering from a bleed on her brain. She is likely to be home soon. I am working from home and organise my schedule. I'm not bothered by cheating and do not have an engine. At work on Zoom we smile when we have an interruption.

Re: British Online Chess Championships 18th December 2020 to 3rd January 2021

So can my partner watch tv and phone her friends - the only person she can distract is me.
I'm seeking permission to use my work computer.
As for toilet as long as arbiter says yes that is ok. I'm frequent.

Re: British Online Chess Championships 18th December 2020 to 3rd January 2021

So only for lonely households of one or big houses 1 per room. Loo issues. My partner will watch tv and make phone calls.

Why have ECF and organisers agreed this. What a waste our money. A Big NO from me.

Re: The School Seedbed of Britain’s chess success

Not all congresses had quickplay finishes by 1980. Surrey had adjournments. I remember a game against a junior - one of the Cobbs - and Kevin Thurlow was the Arbiter. There are lots of volunteers in chess. Thanks.

Re: The School Seedbed of Britain’s chess success

The mid 2000s was when the dedicated schools grant was invented and caused schools and local government funding problems. Before that schools and PTAs had more options. So been mainly a middle class fee paying activity since mid 70s. Playing for my school meant playing other sports against other sch...

Re: (Chess) Life Returning To Normal

Personally I would like to see all leagues, cups, county matches and 2019-20 4NCL completed before the British. HOPEFULLY no clubs close. HOPEFULLY all venues open. HOPEFULLY all grading goes smoothly.

If ECF ran at Port Talbot and BritisH Gov got a trade deal with India it may help and be closer to home.
