Re: 4ncl Congress Entry Conditions Change

It is inevitable that when there are grading restrictions someone could lose out by one point. More so if there is more than one grading criteria to meet. There are plenty of congresses to chose from. I'm looking for congresses which do not clash with southwestern train rail strikes and failing mise...

Re: Youngest ever English GM

So he is eligible for tournaments U2200. But that may not help his chess nor improve his rating. We will find out in 6 years time. I believe he is weaker than Howell and McShane at a comparable age but still room for improvement. When I was 8/9 I wanted to be a train driver and then an astronaut. Th...

Re: 2018 World Championship in London?

£45 is cheap compared to an international sports event, concert, theatre, dining out, etc so why complain? The comparison between premier league match is not valid. Champions League arguably so. Or tickets at Wembley Stadium? Unfortunately there is only one team in the Champions League based in Lond...

Re: Youngest ever English GM

I see little point in Shreyas playing grading restricted tournaments and ought to play, amongst other tournaments, the London Chess Classic. Hopefully he will get world class education too which is something that this country fails in compared to many others. By all means play the age restricted tou...

Re: Shreyas Royal breaks U10 record, poses ECF a question

Some of us are hoping the Home Secretary intervenes in a number of cases not related to chess. My brother has a lot more work having passed a number of new Immigration Law exams. I had no idea there are various quotas attached to nationality, nor some strange financial values attached to various vis...

Re: British Championship 2018

It's an early KO today. If there is a play-off when is it expected? There is still a slim chance of McShane winning outright (my prediction). But the championship is likely to be tight over 9 rounds. Best wishes for Eggy and Koby with their norm chances. As for the legends I hope you qualify next ye...

Re: British Championship 2018

Just in from work & hopefully get away from the office at 12 tomorrow & a dash for a cup of tea with my parents before getting home for the Main Event. The clash between two Chess Legends as Senior is not the right term for Kevin or Roger. Koby with another GM is going well. He gets better every sea...

Is there any way to stop the adverts popping up especially with Women.

It is hardly good to say I'm following the results in today's British Chess Championship.

Not really helpful in promoting chess to women either.
