Re: British championship grading sections in the main event

If the bottom grading prize was U2200 £250 it would not cost the organisers any extra funds.

I'm happy with a premium extra charge for low rated players even if they are under-rated..

Re: British championship grading sections in the main event

Sorry Roger but i'm with ECF & London Chess Classic on charging policy.
And it is really about time for a London Championship. Not that ECF are likely to ever go for that.

Re: British championship grading sections in the main event

Going back to the original post I do not understand why some one who qualifies for the English Championship moans about 300 pounds to enter because of their low rating when clearly stated in the conditions of entry. Anyway I'm hoping Kevin causes a few upsets. A legend in playing. Best wishes for al...

Re: 2018 Alexander Cup Final (Surrey team k.o. competition)

I have noted that the results have not gone into the John Hawson Trophy for the over 60s with best scores in surrey team events. It will be nice that it get's an update bearing in mind a few over 60s in both teams. Not that it will change the winner. We enjoy the local derby matches & are grateful t...

Re: Board placement

Speak to the arbiter/tournament controller & also ensure enough room for clocks & scoresheets.

It is nice if room if not it is a pain interrupting players getting up particularly where a medical condition requires you to get up every 20 minutes.

Re: Blackburne and the endgame

I think he would have been more than good enough to work it out. In my short chess career (45 years) I have reached this ending twice. Once with a lone king when I drew (my opponent had 15 minutes in a tournament to win) and once when I won (most of the moves on a 30 second increment). Most of which...

Re: Preliminary & Quarter Final Results

There was a hold up on sets and boards. Late running in Cornwall too for arriving with these and also became apparent that Cornwall would default my board 16 as no clearance for a 6 year old or his father (or any of the Cornwall spectators). I was offered an ECF rated game but did not get one. I was...
