Re: Would You Pay Extra to Win Prize Money?

No I would not play in terms of the original post. A rapid play with strange entry.

Re: 39th Surrey Chess Congress Oct 4 - 6

" In the light of the Congress having received only a limited number of entries that does not make a financially viable event the Directors have reluctantly come to the view that the Congress cannot go ahead. We are disappointed at the need to cancel the Congress. We will of course refund all entry ...

Re: 39th Surrey Chess Congress Oct 4 - 6

Adam thanks for the quickness of the post. I'll put something on later. I'll be looking at one of your Oct/Nov congresses to get my own chess fix. We are aware of other congresses and where some of last years entrants are. So the u160 fixture that was switched from 29/9 to this coming Saturday may h...

Re: Results of the ECF 2018/9 Grand Prix

Suspect it is all wrong - since when have the dutch been able to enter the British. If some one has messed up that is why does it matter? It does as per Keith's postings. We are not giving support to our seniors either so Keith has been more than once adversely effected by ECF. ECF seem to be awful ...

Re: Results of the ECF 2018/9 Grand Prix

I'm with Keith on this. He won.
ECF should not waste time or resources. Seems a strange way to get entries into an end of year national event too.

Just a note to John that Volume 2 of a film is on Dave now.

Perhaps you ought to call Uma? She seems to have a great way of resolving matters.

Re: When have you ever been told that you can't go to a AGM

I missed a Club AGM as I was working. Missed another due to a World Cup match even though start time was put back so members could do both. However my better half wanted a post-mortem analysis and more wine and so I did not attend. I cannot remember anyone being barred from attending a Surrey AGM bu...

Re: ECF ACCREDITED COACH: COMPLAINTS SYSTEM?

Well, it's intriguing that this has come to light at the start of term, and the apparent suspect is male. It is for these reasons why we advise schools to check these type of relationships, including 'contracts'. That is for potential parent complaints as well as other possible liabilities. My advic...

Re: ECF ACCREDITED COACH: COMPLAINTS SYSTEM?

Is there any obligation on ECF or the ECF coaches to whistle blow to schools and local authorities in their area? Are we discussing an after school club?

Re: British Championship Congress 2020

I cannot see why ECF will want to run twin Over 50, Over 65 events at the 2020 British Championship.

Re: Results of the ECF 2018/9 Grand Prix

Any reason why not award trophies even on a provisional basis. Not as if any sponsorship prize money. Is there likely to be any late changes in the winners? Just as well most leagues do not usually use grading data to decide trophies.

Re: British Championship Congress 2020

Seems to be some selfish attitudes from old chess players.
A week of my holidays will be nice. More not so. Will not be on a pension until 69.
9.15-10am fine by me. It will be in time for a coffee break 90-120 minutes into a days work.
Finish in time for a snooze on the coach or train.
