Re: Twickenham Junior Chess Congress - 8 December

Paul, I'm querying the date as against your other post on arbiter with our information in availability for county matches which I know have been arranged for 8/12.

Re: Which Candidate Should the ECF Support in the FIDE Presidential Election? (Take 2)

Ok with 2 weeks to go for this Poll to stop, 42 votes to 332 posts, how many more votes will be cast? I'm struggling to find on betting sites which suggests the market knows best. One for a mathematics teacher. At my school lesson one on statistics - there are lies, damned lies, and statistics. Also...

Re: ECF Council Voting Register 2018-2019

Michael you may have an issue by e-mailing out after leagues, etc have held their meetings with member clubs (our ECF reps were at our meetings). Hopefully the e=mails have gone out to our reps & constituent organisations. I was not aware that you are the ECF Voting registration officer until I saw ...

Re: Surrey Chess Congress October 26-28

The entry form is very clear to me as are Mike's words. I also liked the photo from the 1st Kingston Rapidplay. An excellent team running the congress. There are hotels in Kingston, car parks, and excellent public transport routes. A lovely town centre, facilities, and the River. A fantastic end to ...

Re: County Chess 2018-19

That is true Roger but the Candidates had a far larger budget than ECF's.

We are organised. We have avoided our teams clash with the Surrey Congress.

Re: Surrey Chess Congress October 26-28

I have missed the Big Surrey Congresses and am delighted for all those that are organising Chess in Kingston.

Well done and thanks. Will see you at the Congress.

Re: County Chess 2018-19

VAR in chess etc when arbiters are present because they cannot see everything. But it I believe it will not be an expense in the ECF's budget.

Re: Which Candidate Should the ECF Support in the FIDE Presidential Election? (Take 2)

Surrey are nowhere near competing with ECF support for FIDE elections.
Our PRESIDENT gave us one year's notice of this resignation. So we are not even close to this level of electioneering.
Even so is there likely to be any significant change in FIDE? After all ECF is small.

Re: County Chess 2018-19

Michael my comment was on 52ci regarding eligibility of ungraded players. But if we are waiting for the outcome of a meeting once that has happened I'd be grateful for hard copies of the forms, and the rules be posted to me from the SCCU. I am unable to do so at work.

Re: Engine and database use in Correspondence Chess

What is confusing is a governing body trying to remove all forms of cheating (getting help from a machine or others) and another which actively encourages it.

Either form is trying to sell us a lot of products with FOMO.

Re: County Chess 2018-19

It may be because of custom and practice, or even those ruling on the intention of rules in making their decisions. I can think of a number of rulings where other decisions would have been made if these rules were in force. Appeal decision may have been changed. I'll get my views to our rep. But if ...

I doubt that.
When I go on holiday I want to switch off.
If I have a good walk and lots of fresh air that helps and also helps me sleep.

Not if you are a short sighted, deaf, bad tempered old woman that tries to communicate with Manuel at Fawlty Towers. Si, que, what? On confronting Mr CK Watt aka Basil and demanding a discount because she cannot see a view (what did you expect? Erupting volcanoes, herds of wildebeest), find things, ...
