Re: World Senior Individuals, Bled, November 2018

Moreover the apparent "requirement' that any bank transfer must be by 1 November (for an event that starts 18 November) seems very strange to me (what happens if money transferred on 1 November arrives the next day … is it returned?!). This just seems plain daft, not least because players can pay b...

If Carlsen (295) - Caruana (290) is ECF graded one of them has an excellent chance to get to 300.
However, it probably won't be ECF graded, as the match is not being held under ECF auspices.
Did it ever get registered for FIDE rating?

Muzychuk-Lagno drawn. Ju has an extra pawn vs Kosteniuk although the size of her advantage appears less than move 23.

Re: 2018 World Championship in London

does anyone know why Tony Miles dubbed triple pawns the Irish pawn centre? https://www.chess.com/forum/view/fun-with-chess/chess-slang "Purportedly, Tony Miles first coined the phrase when he watched Eamon Keogh use the IPC - Irish pawn center - in Amsterdam 1978 and then used the IPC to beat Eamon...

Game 3 results:

Kosteniuk 1 A Muzychuk 0
Abdumalik 0 M Muzychuk 1
Followed by a draw to send Kosteniuk through and a white loss to keep the latter match going.

Another week, another appeal. This time I am looking for a player to play on Saturday at Daventry Court Hotel. Maximum grade/rating approximately 160/1900 but any playing strength below that considered.
Place now filled.

Re: 2018 Women's World Championship

Lahno has won 2-0 to advance to the semi-final whilst Mariya Muzychuk has won with black to level in her match. Wenjun Ju is about to win (as I type) to win her match.

Tokhirjonova taking a terrible pasting from Wu today.
She was but seems to have to survived somehow into an ending with chances to hold. I suspect that 26.... Qg4 would have killed off white's counterplay.
