Another week, another appeal. This time I am looking for a player to play on Saturday at Daventry Court Hotel. Maximum grade/rating approximately 160/1900 but any playing strength below that considered.
Place now filled.

Re: 2018 Women's World Championship

Lahno has won 2-0 to advance to the semi-final whilst Mariya Muzychuk has won with black to level in her match. Wenjun Ju is about to win (as I type) to win her match.

Tokhirjonova taking a terrible pasting from Wu today.
She was but seems to have to survived somehow into an ending with chances to hold. I suspect that 26.... Qg4 would have killed off white's counterplay.

I was shocked at the noise in the main room - the analysis room was too close, and was all too audible when the door opened. I saw David Howell look up in despair as he fought to win his tricky ending on the Sunday.
Fortunately his opponent gave him plenty of help

Re: Cheating in chess

"Have there been any cases of a parent and child caught cheating in collusion?" Yes. I also recall incidents where parents attempted to cheat on behalf of their child. E.g child claims draw on 10.2, comes to me with father, when we reach the board, the opponent is setting the pieces up. I ask if sh...

Re: world championship schedule

Just looked at the world championship schedule and I noticed that there are 6 rest days, of which 3 fall on a weekend. I wonder why they decided to have so many rest days over the weekend and why they placed the final game and tie-break on week days. It looks as if chess attracts a bigger audience ...

If you have a (free) login on the FIDE ratings website then one possible route for investigation is to look at the "Individual Calculations" for a period before they got married and it should tell you. FIDE doesn't change old data. So, for example - https://ratings.fide.com/individual_calculations....
