Re: Chess once we restart over the board

As the chairman of my local over the board chess club, I am planning both things at the same time, the chess club once we restart over the board and in the meantime some sort of way of continuing the chess club online for the time being.

Re: ECF Office Staff on Furlough

I certainly don't believe that the ECF year should start in any other month other than September, because that is obviously when most leagues start.

Re: ECF Office Staff on Furlough

Regardless of how hard the finances of the ECF are hit, I hope they still decide to keep the free silver junior membership of the ECF to any junior that has not being a previous member of the ECF, for the first year. That has been really useful for some of my club members in previous years, and I ho...

Re: ECF Finance Meeting

I would hope that the ECF continue their free junior silver membership for any junior that has not been a previous member of the ECF when chess resumes, however hard the finances of the ECF will be hit. It is a useful initiative (one that I have used myself in the past) and obviously can lead to lon...

Re: ECF Finance Meeting

Is ECF membership free for ALL juniors at the moment. (I know that you can get free junior silver membership if you have never been a member of the ECF before anyway.)

Re: Pre-move -who came up with that idea?

The idea of pre-move is if you know your opponent has only got 1 legal move, or if you have checkmate in a few moves, and you know what moves you want to play regardless of what your opponent does. Personally I have never played with a time limit that requires pre-moves. In postal chess, or daily tu...

Re: what happens when you pass away as a chess player??

I assume you mean in terms of your ECF grade. The games played before the person has died are submitted for ECF grading in the normal way. The person will then become an ungraded player.

If this is because of an ongoing situation I will just add hope everything is alright as well.

Re: Chess once we restart over the board

That is the whole point of vote chess on chess.com though. Discussion of the moves is allowed in that form of chess. In fact it is encouraged.

Re: Chess once we restart over the board

OK does anyone have a chess club on chess.com If so do you want a Vote Chess match against Brewood Chess Circle. We are a fairly small chess club, but I am not too bothered about how many members we are playing against. My suggestion is a move every 48 hours, with us as white (because our members wa...

Chess once we restart over the board

Hello everyone First and foremost I hope you and your families are remaining fit, healthy and safe during this time. It seems unimportant, but nevertheless I will post this topic anyway. Will clubs lose members once we restart over the board. People have got out of the habit of going, and many older...

Re: Continuing Leagues & Established Events Online

After years of being dormant the Brewood Chess Circle chess.com page has being reactivated this past week, with us telling the club members to join us online. Our chess club committee were keen that members of our chess club could still continue to 1) interact with each other and 2) play chess again...

Re: World Youth Championships

I think it would be quite easy to make up an account on chess.com with any name you like.
