Re: Quarter Final Draw

The two remaining draws are as follows:- MINOR COUNTIES Quarter 2 Cornwall vs Leicestershire Going to be interesting trying to find a reasonable mid- point venue for that match. We played in Mark in Somerset. Leicestershire won 14½ - 1½. Credit both captains for getting 16 players willing to travel...

Re: ECF October 2016 – Minutes of AGM

Malcolm's comment was a throwaway remark in an editorial and should not be held as an immutable statement for all time. Malcolm and I have known each other for a very long time. He does not write things without precise thought and as far as I'm concerned, it's an official ECF statement until he wit...

Not really. Just proves you are solvent. Most sponsored sporting events have far more in reserve.

Re: Div 3 North 2016-17

I had confirmed by email before the deadline both confirmation of our entries and that we would pay our entry fee by bank transfer. It was solely the payment that was after 30 September. Rather than setting a precedent I sincerely hope that they 4NCL do not take the same steps this time and judging...

Re: Div 3 North 2016-17

After the e2e4 late payment of entry fees and subsequent removal from the league; I suspect that if any of the team Neil listed haven't paid their fee there will be no option other than match the events which happened with e2e4 I had confirmed by email before the deadline both confirmation of our e...

More outspoken, this I look forward to reading.
Me too. The first was, shall we say, interesting!

Re: Do I need to be England Federation In Fide to play world youth ?

It costs £275. Details here http://www.englishchess.org.uk/fide/fide-fees/ When I read this I assumed most of the £275 was FIDE fees. In fact, it's the ECF's fee. FIDE fees, if they applied, would be on top of this. Why is the charge so high? This charge represents the FIDE notification fee, plus c...

No it isn't...
We'll have to agree to disagree on that point.

Re: "SavetheUKCC" petition

I'm not implying anything: I'm saying explicitly that there is a good deal that it would be pertinent to know that we do not know, because Mike Basman and his advocates, while saying a good deal that is irrelevant or misleading, have preferred not to tell us. Whatever one might think about how this...

Re: Tournaments with Mixed Time Controls

While looking for a tournament to play in, I came across a couple of foreign weekend tournaments with unusual time controls. I've not seen this in this country. What do people think? Would these sorts of tournaments interest people? Tournament 1 8 rounds swiss Rounds 1-4: 15 minutes + 5 sec per mov...

This MCCU delegate would be supportive. Doesn't have to just be a Minor County team of course. There's games to be had at all grading levels if wanted.
