Re: ECF Membership Reform
What's the problem they're trying to fix / outcome they're trying to achieve? Is it simply raise more money, or something else? I think it is just felt that the current membership scheme has been running for ten years and a review is timely. There will probably be no changes because a majority will...

Re: Chief Executive 2021
It's interesting that these allegations against Julian Clissold are only surfacing now, particularly as he is one of the few survivors of the Ehr board. He was even a low level member of the arbiter nexus being one of (I think) four members of the board at that time who held an arbiter qualificatio...

Re: Quarter Final Draw
The two remaining draws are as follows:- MINOR COUNTIES Quarter 2 Cornwall vs Leicestershire Going to be interesting trying to find a reasonable mid- point venue for that match. We played in Mark in Somerset. Leicestershire won 14½ - 1½. Credit both captains for getting 16 players willing to travel...

Re: ECF October 2016 – Minutes of AGM
Malcolm's comment was a throwaway remark in an editorial and should not be held as an immutable statement for all time. Malcolm and I have known each other for a very long time. He does not write things without precise thought and as far as I'm concerned, it's an official ECF statement until he wit...

Not really. Just proves you are solvent. Most sponsored sporting events have far more in reserve.Bob Kane wrote:I would guess its hard to attract sponsors or govt funding when you have 100K sitting in reserves.

Re: Div 3 North 2016-17
I had confirmed by email before the deadline both confirmation of our entries and that we would pay our entry fee by bank transfer. It was solely the payment that was after 30 September. Rather than setting a precedent I sincerely hope that they 4NCL do not take the same steps this time and judging...

Re: Div 3 North 2016-17
After the e2e4 late payment of entry fees and subsequent removal from the league; I suspect that if any of the team Neil listed haven't paid their fee there will be no option other than match the events which happened with e2e4 I had confirmed by email before the deadline both confirmation of our e...

Re: Do I need to be England Federation In Fide to play world youth ?
It costs £275. Details here http://www.englishchess.org.uk/fide/fide-fees/ When I read this I assumed most of the £275 was FIDE fees. In fact, it's the ECF's fee. FIDE fees, if they applied, would be on top of this. Why is the charge so high? This charge represents the FIDE notification fee, plus c...
