Re: Cheating in chess

Ruben Nunez drew with Kramnik and was immediately labelled a cheat and he's just one of a long line of chess players Kramnik has accused and his heartfelt response is below. As I understand it FIDE has no reach into online chess so Nunez or whoever else can't refer him to the Ethics Committee. Chess...

Re: Nigel Short off Twitter

Nigel is currently doing his trademark globetrotting and a few days ago was in Lesotho. He is still posting on FB and Insta and had this to say on his most recent post. "...Not as fascistic as Xcrement - Elon Musk's abomination - mind you. I do hope he loses all of his $44billion "investment", as qu...

Re: Cheating in chess

This is a 15 minute chess.com video hosted by Danny Resch and Kassa Korley who deal with the reaction of online cheaters when they get banned. Priceless stuff such as "I wouldn't have needed to cheat if diamond membership was free".

Re: Carlsen resigns on move 2

Very well played by Niemann and puts Kramnik right on the spot. They could film the session if it ever happens and looks a great candidate for a Netflix documentary.

Wales not going as self-funding costs too high. Scotland going but again are self-funded. Daniel Fernandez okay with team selection but narked about other issues and considering options …is one moving Federation to Australia you wonder? lol It's a tough decision as to how upset we should get about ...

Re: Carlsen resigns on move 2

I persisted to the end and agree with Loz and Nick that the arguments Kramnik was putting forward were incoherent. It annoyed me when he kept saying 99% of GMs would agree with him, I'm sure a lot of them wouldn't but its a lazy way of backing his claims without providing any substantive evidence. I...

Re: Carlsen resigns on move 2

I don't think they were part of a formal competition but there have been a couple of recent games on chess.com between Kramnik and Hans. In the first, Kramnik lost as white in a mainline Berlin. In a rematch with Hans white, the game commenced 1. e4 f6 2. d4 g5 whereupon Hans resigned. Tell me if I...

You would hope that this small city far in the west of Ukraine would be safe from any Russian military activity (including long-range missiles), It seems you spoke too soon . I saw an advert for a tournament in Kiev a few months ago. The tournament information included directions to the nearest bom...

Re: Chess Player needed to open Cafe

OK the weather looks fine today so we're going ahead with the simul at the Riverside Cafe in Tewkesbury, Gloucs from 11am - 4pm and everyone is welcome. Two local players will be doing the simul, Mike Ashworth and Andy Horton and here is a message from Mike: "Hi all On Sunday 6 August, International...

Re: FIDE Rating Consultation

I think I begin to understand what is happening here. At the Scheveningen tournament where Nguyen Thi Phuong Anh scored 7/9, https://chess-results.com/tnr796350.aspx?lan=1&art=9&fed=VIE&snr=9 one team was 10 rated players and the other 10 unrated, so the rated players didn't lose any rating points....

Re: Media comments on chess

I'd love to believe it but time and time again Sunak has pledged finance and support for a whole range of issues (have to say ones that are a lot more important and desperate for money than chess) in the grubby pursuit of more votes for this incompetent government only to renege on them later. Wher...
