Re: Young Authors

To put the above into context let us not forget that Ray Keene during the gap between Dulwich College and Cambridge Ray (aged 18) wrote his first (and one of his best) book : Flank Openings : Would that make Keene the first teenager to write a book on chess? 5098501._SY475_.jpg I would argue that i...

Are we sure he actually wrote it?

That is young indeed to be delivering publications.

Young Authors

Hi, I just learnt that GM Daniel Naroditstky wrote Mastering Positional Chess when he was only 14. Is that a record in terms of a titled player producing literature at the youngest age? Have we had someone publish anything when they were younger than that?

Re: OGWT

I watched the documentary on Ready Steady Go and it was claimed that Top of the Pops was the BBC answer to it. Sounds about right.

I believe "Chess Fever" (1925) may count. It is fiction, but includes Capablanca as himself.
The Great Chess Movie too, which has dozens of players in it.

Re: Chess history trivia

Who, in 1937, was told by a jolly Communist Propaganda Department official in Kiev that his failure to participate regularly at chess events might be held against him and interpreted in a way that could be dangerous? And yes Soviet development appeared in print on our shores in more than one documen...

Re: Actors and Masters

Caught me by surprise to see a certain Michael Adams in it. He wasn't the most convincing baddie I have ever seen, and perhaps that's true over the board too!

Actors and Masters

Greetings, I just watched the 80s flick Commando and was surprised to learn that a certain Michael Adams starred in the films as (Mike).

Are there any other GMs who share their name with actors and has a GM ever actually appeared in a film (not documentary) or perhaps tv series?
