Re: ECF elections 2016 Boards report
Subject: C25.6.1 The Board’s Report ~communication improvement claims Just for the record my comments in bold "One area for which the Board as a whole, rather than any individual Director, has ownership is that of communication. The Board has made great efforts to improve performance in this regard...

Re: Website - No updated Pages
I'm unaware as to why this has happened. I'll look into it and let you know.

Re: Hoogeveen 15-22 October 2016
My money is on Short for that one. No English players at all in the Open so far which is surprising. Indian GMs make up the top 3 seeds.

Re: AGON "under probation"
Thanks, it would be interesting to know which Directors received the most questions I'm sure we could publish the figures giving a few details. It'd probably be misleading to put up numbers of questions for each director just yet as the numbers we have are too small to draw any statistically signif...

Re: AGON "under probation"
If you ask a question on "Ask the Director" it will be answered within the self-imposed time-scales already publicised. If it is of general interest, and a suggestion as to a change of policy is obviously that, it'll be published on the website together with the answer and may appear again on an FA...

Re: Performance Issues
I use Talk Talk and I'm usually on Google Chrome. I'm not aware of having similar issues on any other site. With ECForum neither happens all the time but often enough to be an annoyance.

Re: Performance Issues
I quite frequently find that when I try to submit a post it is described as "invalid" on the first attempt but then goes through successfully the second time around. Odd. I also find myself logged-out sometime between starting and submitting a post which leads to it not being saved at all. Very anno...

Re: AGON "under probation"
That's my point. As we've seen lately, having the FIDE Delegate express an opinion does not make it official ECF policy. I'm waiting to see if "Ask the Director" is anything other than window dressing. If it has a value, it perhaps will be necessary to ask whether a course of action can become offi...

Re: Minnow Films, M* Bond?
"The ECF just slung the advert up on their webpage without bothering themselves to put it into any kind of context. As if any old junk on the site/twitter feed will do, and the readers can just fill in the gaps for themselves." I put it up because I thought it would be interesting to some members an...

Re: Minnow Films, M* Bond?
Seems a bit random to me Had there been a grading list in 1939, GCHQ would have used it to list potential recruits for Bletchley Park. I doubt that exactly, although I’m sure we all know the chessing codebreakers story. No doubt there’s a link that could be made between chess the and the TV program...

Re: ECF enewsletter
Just to add to the list, I received the emails from the ECF in December and January, but I got neither of the newsletters. However if that is all I am missing and they are put on the website I will likely go the RSS route to obtain notifications of when they are available. Dan Probably due to your ...

Re: ECF enewsletter
I don't know that ISPs are consciously looking to censor email traffic (though for all I know they might be!) but if some of them have stopped the Newsletter getting through it has to be more to do with security features which are designed to protect their customers from getting viruses etc. Most s...

Re: ECF enewsletter
I do mind not even knowing I’ve been missing stuff. Perhaps this is worth following up with your ISP, as to why they are in effect censoring your email. I don't know that ISPs are consciously looking to censor email traffic (though for all I know they might be!) but if some of them have stopped the...

Re: ECF enewsletter
Hi Chris, You must be on the mailing list as you received at least one of my previous bulletins which came from the same source. I can only think your spam filter is stopping it getting through. The newsletter contains quite a few links which can be seen by the filters as suspicious. You could see i...
