Re: Does anyone have a spare twin at Talford for weekend 1?

I know someone that was offered a single earlier in the week - maybe they'd had a cancellation. I know we have people in other palces as it was full when they booked

Re: Does anyone have a spare twin at Talford for weekend 1?

They claim to be sold out of twins - but still have one or two singles I believe. that makes me think they're not convertible

Does anyone have a spare twin at Talford for weekend 1?

Just checking what the resale market is looking like? We probably have a spare single that we could trade, if anyone has the reciprocal issues

PM me if you can help,

thanks

Re: The main difference between the Reti and the English?

English players who don't intend to play Reversed Dragon set-ups or don't fancy reversed closed sicilian/grand prix structures often choose 1Nf3 to avoid c4 e5 options for Black - but of course they cut-out some of their own options too

Re: AGM Agenda and papers published

I think the issue with being a Gold member rep is the challenge in doing the role what I would consider 'properly'. If you don't actively canvass views to represent then it's just a bit of an ego boost to the individual. If you are serious about canvassing views then it's a lot of time and effort - ...

Re: 2018 British Championship

Playing in the weekend open (atkins?) we moved around quite a bit. When on the school dinner tables, using DGT boards it was tight. They were also the tables with the raised aluminium edges - so actually quite painful to rest elbows and put any weight onto. Maybe I've been spoiled by conditions in t...

Re: 88th FIDE Congress: Executive Board Agenda and Annexes

There's no issue Gerard. If you choose to make the move in an illegal manner (not trplacing the pawn with your chosen pice) - and assuming it's longply so you don;t lose for the first offence - then you lose the right to choose the piece the pawn is promoted to and it automatically becomes a queen..

As ever, plagued by under-rated Indian juniors ... not much fun ... But normally well-run with good hotel deals as it's 50 degrees during the day so hotels are generally empty ...

Re: Grand Chess Tour events: Paris GCT and Leuven, Belgium

Yeah - I found it confusing in the Middle East - there wasn't actually a delay to the countdown - you just got the 10s (or whatever) added back after your move (or less if you didn;t use the full 10s delay). Of course in order for this to be OK the clocks actuslly started at 25 mins and 10s - so you...

Re: 2017 European Ind Ch 29 May - 11 June (Minsk)

Given the build-up I thought the facebook post was pretty reasonable. Congrtulated winners and organisers. Made the case for Europe getting more WorldCup spots, with a dig at FIDE shenanigans in passing. Pointed-out issues with running a qualification tournament as a large swiss, including players t...
