One of those 34 players is a potential super GM..
The Cornish champion?
The same. Believe he beat Michael Adams' record as the youngest winner.

The results seemed rather odd until I realised they were FIDE ratings and so largely defunct.

1st Jurassic Rapidplay - Saturday 16th September

This is a new event hoping to address the shortage of rapid congresses in the South West. 6 rounds of 25m+10s. The venue is Axmouth Village Hall, close to the Devon/Dorset border in a picturesque setting opposite two pubs and 10 minutes walk along the river from the fishing harbour and beach. We als...

Re: 2023 National Stages

"I think the county championship dates are calculable years in advance from the rules to be fair." No idea, I'll take your word for it! But it would make it easier for teams if dates were actually published before inviting entries. If I don't know that, then I assume most people who might decide to...

Re: Manchester in the NCCU

There do seem to be some titled players returning to county chess. I saw Kent were fielding an impressive side.

Our annual fixture against Cornwall featured John Nunn.

Thanks for a superbly organised congress in a beautiful location.
Thank Jon. Glad that you enjoyed it. Come back next year and bring friends to help us reach the 200 capacity! :D
I think the 300 mile journey might put them off a bit..

Independent SAGE is not highly regarded amongst all scientists by any means - more of a political lobby group and that would be a polite and generous way of putting it.

Playing abroad

Does anyone have any advice on where to look for suitable overseas events? The FIDE calendar seems to be virtually unused.

I am curious as to whether Northumberland are going to make the journey down from Tyneside to Market Bosworth in order to face Yorkshire!
Appears the answer is no.
