Re: Worrying times
Tesco have introduced rules where people can't take more than they need though. and they have security officers outside some stores, and long waits to even get in
in stores where they haven't introduced such rules, chaos often reigns.

Re: Worrying times
I'm sorry if my comment offends people. I should state that it's mainly the ruling party of China that I'm unhappy with- many of whom are extremely rich people. They have no excuse for not taking fair warning from the SARS outbreak and imposing tougher rules on the transportation and eating of wild ...

Re: Worrying times
It seems that not enough was done in china to prohibit the sale of wild animals, and subsequently zoonosis transmission from animals to humans, after the original SARs outbreak. That was the first coronavirus to be potentially lethal to humans and yet animals were still kept in terrible conditions i...

Re: Worrying times
I guess if we've learned anything from this crisis, it's how selfish most people are.
Every time I go into town I see a steady line of cars going to the supermarket, when normally it's fairly quiet.
Who knew my town was full of hoarders and selfish shelf clearers.

Re: Candidates Tournament 2020
He won't win, I'm pretty certain about that, so waste of time in my view.

Re: Worrying times
Sorry just saw Kevin's post. Didn't realize that was the reason, although they were different, quainter times. Now they'd probably be asking the producers to make it more scary...

Re: Worrying times
They did a tripods series as well (possible you can still watch it on youtube)
They didn't get as far as the books though, because i think they dropped it after a second series.

Re: Candidates Tournament 2020
i was thinking yesterday how Caruana was unlucky in a way, that it wasn't the situation like it is in other sports, where you get a world championship every year (like in snooker or darts.) I think in some years he's looked as good or even superior to Carlsen overall. So I think in that scenario he ...

Re: Candidates Tournament 2020
I predicted Ding would win today on my twitter. I really don't like Caruana's chances of qualifying at all. Just don't see it. Ding however, I think has got some momentum now. his game against Giri becomes an important game. A chance for Anish to get back into it or Ding to perhaps being confirmed a...

Re: Covid-19 - Suspend Chess Immediately
I posted the following on facebook earlier: Yesterday walking around town (I had a doctors appointment) it made me realize how selfish the british public is. Ok we haven't had many cases of coronavirus in this area, so perhaps people are enjoying their freedom before it truly kicks in, but it was li...

Re: Covid-19 - Suspend Chess Immediately
Read an interesting interview today with Wayne Rooney where he said that most people he spoke to didn't want to play and they were relieved when it did get cancelled, and he felt that the authorities took too long in making an announcement. I got the impression that a lot of the people I spoke to ab...

Re: Covid-19 - Suspend Chess Immediately
Yeah I think they could cancel the British, unfortunately. Most likely the Scottish championships will go too. A shame for me and others if this happens but there are more important things in life. Hopefully I'm wrong and this thing blows out but all the experts are saying that it won't and they mus...

Re: Covid-19 - Suspend Chess Immediately
Well that's good news then. Perhaps we won't all die after all.
