Re: Membership Renewal

Well, those of us with access to the organisers' area do, but I'm not sure we should publish it here. No doubt the ECF will do so when they feel it is appropriate. From the ECF's own email: *The ECF needs a minimum level of funding to remain viable so that we can provide support to chess activities...

Re: Gibraltar Chess Festival 2021

I understand that the Gibraltar organisers were having preliminary meetings last week to try and assess their options, so probably nothing is decided yet. The Gibraltar government is the chief sponsor, so they will tread carefully. I would have thought John Saunders may have some information. I hav...

Re: (Chess) Life Returning To Normal

Once you have two groups of six, the two groups must not mingle in anyway, either at the club or outside, as that would be breaking the law. The term "mingle" isn't well defined. It seems to even confuse the Home Secretary who signed off the Regulations. When asked whether it was legal for two fami...

Re: (Chess) Life Returning To Normal

The English Bridge Union has updated its advice at https://www.ebu.co.uk/node/3901. From what I read there, it seems to me that, in a chess context, it would be possible to organise simultaneous 6 player all-play-alls in some venues but that it would not be possible to organise a Swiss tournament i...

Re: Club Membership & ECF Membership Fees

With clubs struggling to reopen, & leagues opting to run their seasons online.
Members who renew their ECF Membership along with paying their club fees, may not have renewed their memberships yet.

Anybody have any updates on the numbers who are renewing their memberships?

Re: (Chess) Life Returning To Normal

The English Bridge Union say the new measures remove any doubt that face to face bridge competitions can return and say it’s not possible at this time. European Bridge Union competitions will also be cancelled. They await suitable changes being made in the future before any clubs should reopen; htt...

Re: Membership Renewal

According to ECF lists available to organisers, as at yesterday there were 4016 members (including Junior Free Silver members) and 137 supporters. I don't have figures for the start of September 2019 to compare against but the 1/10/2019 counts were: 7524 members and 12 supporters. The final tally o...

Re: Club Membership & ECF Membership Fees

I was on the Blackpool & Fylde League website last night. They are planning to run an online league on alternative Tuesdays so it doesn't clash with 4NCL online. There was a pre season friendly between Poulton and Preston. Poulton won 2 and a half to half. Simon. I was hoping you would have more in...

Re: Club Membership & ECF Membership Fees

As regards to membership fees, only 4 members including myself have renewed our ECF membership from Poulton le Fylde Chess Club. I've not checked the other clubs in our league yet. Uptake of membership in the Lancashire area looks very poor at the moment. Does the Blackpool & Fylde League plan to r...

Club Membership & ECF Membership Fees

Are members who pay their membership fees via their clubs , renewing their memberships for 2020 - 2021? I presume these will be mainly Bronze Members who play mainly local league & club chess. How clubs reopen & start OTB play will vary considerably throughout the country. Venues interpretation of t...

Re: Northumberland Chess Congress

There seem to be a few posts worrying that this event may be cancelled.
Is there any factual basis for this from the organisers, or is it all speculation?

Re: Membership Renewal

Paul not sure that you are using Lancashire CA/star plus clubs. Why not ASK Bill? He is No 1 in Lancashire. Looked at the clubs listed by Lancashire Chess Association + Lancashire & Lancashire* ...........Hopefully members will re-join after the recent BH weekend & the ECF have collected monies by ...
