Re: Jim Slater

Interesting to read of fortune tellers´ prognostications.
In his autobiography Return To Go (which I recommend) he stated that he believed some people really can see the future.
My wife echoed that in her autobiographical work Journeys In The Underworld.

Re: Jeremy James (1936-2015)

Sad,
Almost certainly was Jeremy on the Guardian thread, Matt, for he and I commented on each other´s posts there a few years back.
He was bilingual and resided in France.

Had, may we perhaps learn, his wife predeceased him?

Re: Plaskett and Woffinden's book on the "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" Fraud

Commendable, John. Do read it. Once again let me address some points, particularly some made by Martin Benjamin. Benjamin argues that the Youtube clips are definitive. They are not. They are massively slanted. Read the book, Señor Benjamin. Again, re the 32K Question, Ingram admitted he was entirely...

Re: Plaskett and Woffinden's book on the "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" Fraud

@martin Benjamin As we make clear, it was an audience gasp after Ingram had guessed on the 32k question that caused him to then give the other option. THAT was why he said ´Craig David´. And that´s not cheating. Your citing his lack of emotion when receiving the phone call from Paul Smith was becaus...

Re: Plaskett and Woffinden's book on the "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" Fraud

He wasn´t my friend before I wrote a 36 Point essay in his defence. Read the book before opining on a thread ABOUT that book. It´s Kindlable in the UK, btw... He DID give as his first choice and as the correct option the answers to the 8K, 16K, 64K, 125K and 250K questions. Indeed, on the 250K he me...

Re: at the mercy of the arbiter

Along with Toplaov this other GM emigré to Spain had 2 Knights against a Pawn TWICE . Once vs Suba in 1989 at the Barnsleydale Country Club Masters and once in a rapid event in Javea last September. I drew last year, through a combination of time running out and not knowing my arse from my elbow. T...

Re: French Chess Federation investigates cheating players

So at least in some cases, dishonest practice in a sporting competition apparently can be considered a criminal offence. It remains to be seen whether the same will apply in the case of Feller et al. At the time of goalkeeper Bruce Grobelaar standing trial for alleged match-fixing, in 1997, several...
