Re: The ECF Academy tender

John - you may not agree with the way the tendering process has been run and there may be other ways to do it, but many people have experience of tendering processes, and your suggestion to date that only two of the twelve board members are competent in this regard is nonsense. I did not suggest on...

Re: The ECF Academy tender

A board with strong experience in the commercial and business sectors would allow (if an option) more time to encourage a wide and diverse number of bidders. I don't know about anyone else on the board, but speaking as a former work colleague (and team mate!) of Mike Truran, I can assure you that h...

Results of ACP elections

In the style of Katie Boyle I report results of the ACP elections as follow : "Dear Members, We would like announce the results of the voting for the new ACP Board. They are as follows: Aleksandar Colovic - 47 votes Pavel Tregubov - 44 votes Laurent Freyd - 38 votes Maria Emelianova - 37 votes Iván ...

Re: The ECF Academy tender

I'm not suggesting anything unethical has transpired. I am suggesting that it is not reasonable to impose such a short time scale to prepare a meaningful and realistic bid. A board with strong experience in the commercial and business sectors would allow (if an option) more time to encourage a wide ...

Regulation No 1 requires this process, regardless of what the Board or anyone else may think of its merits.
What is the mechanism to update Regulation Number 1 ?

A new position of ‘ ECF Slave’
I suspect that this is not a new position but has been established for many years.

Re: The ECF Academy tender

I predict that the "winner" of the tender will be UK Chess Challenge persons.

Who would like to bet against me ?

The timescale is laughable for anyone who was not pre-warned about the content of the tender.

Re: Media comments on chess

Branson is left handed. Some left handed people wear their watch on their right hands. This might support the claim that the picture was flipped. However, the cup handle is on Branson's left hand side. This strongly suggests that the picture was not flipped. The balance of probabilities suggest tha...

Re: Media comments on chess

Quite often the picture editor will mirror the image about the y axis for aesthetic reasons not realising the implications for the content of the image. It may be therefore that the board orientation was correct. Isn't the point here that it was posted by Mr Branson, so there was no "picture editor...

Michael Crawford has never been the same since marrying Betty.

Jessica told me all about it.
I don't quite follow this.
Michael Crawford then morphed into The Phantom of the Opera.

And then into a circus proprietor.

It's a funny old world...

Goodness. It might become a collector's item!
Banned books are always sought after. Must put this book on my WANTS list.

Perhaps you could compare the GMRDKOBE book with Lady Chatterley's Lover, Animal Farm or The Canterbury Tales ? They suffered a similar fate.
