Re: 2019-20 Season

Been at the Holiday Inn for an hour, spent twenty minutes in the queue twice and been told I must now do that again because you are just expected to go round and round until your room is ready. Re: New Year Honours List

When was the most recent year that the ECF (or maybe it was the BCF?) recommended anyone for an honour? Is the ECF prepared to answer the question or, in fact, do they know accurately ? Without Sir Stuart Milner-Barry it is more difficult to get something approved : this could be the stumbling block.

Re: Hastings Congress

What move did Mark Lyell miss in his game with Thomas Thorpe after Whites routine but flawed 11.Sbd2? on board 21, round 8 today ?

It is the kind of move that might be the cause of a hangover.

Re: Bye

THE ECF database of ungraded players has a Suffolk junior with the surname Bye and the first-name Filler. I assume Filler Bye is an error rather than the child of arguably over-enthusiastic chess parents … https://beauchess.blogspot.com/ I was rather hoping to see appearances from AN Other Walk Ove...

Re: Hastings Congress

Anyone know what happened on board 45, Zheng - Patrick ?

Black's position is a bit nasty but that is to be expected after 4...Lc5 I suppose.

Re: Hastings Congress

Board 31 today reminds me of the universal problem of where to put the rooks.

Black's (Richard Jennings) 14th move oversight has been seen before.

Pairing a Team Event

Do any of the commercial available pairing packages have the ability to pair team events ?

I am tasked with this in a couple of weeks and was wondering how I should deal with it compared with pairing an individual tournament in which I would use UTU Swiss.

Any help much appreciated.

Re: End of an era

"The Institute for Brain Chemistry and Human Nutrition", by the way, is not at "Imperial College", nor is it at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, it doesn't actually appear to have any present-day physical existence at all, and Ray's activities in this particular area are prerty morally deplorable....

Ted Heath did no such thing.

It was John Major on November 1st 1993 who signed the Maastricht Treaty on behalf of the United Kingdom.
