Do we kn...

Re: Britbase Question

When attempting to fetch the same URI

I see a http 2xx type code for the http URL

whereas

for the https type URL I see a 403 status code.

This suggests to me, at least, an SSL implementation issue.

Re: Britbase Question

Looks like a resource location issue to me and nothing to do with SSL but I am looking now. Yes confirmed it is you John somewhere although I can't put my finger on it right now it isn't the SSL that is for sure. I didn't write that the display problem was an SSL issue. I was attempting to help JS ...

Re: Britbase Question

John,

My ISP (Zen Internet) provided a free SSL certificate for each and every web site I manage. It happened automatically.

I've been with Zen for at least fifteen years and been very happy with their service.

SSL implemented correctly enables an http server to upgrade to an https server.

Britbase Question

This might just be me but...

Looking at something like https://www.saund.co.uk/britbase/pgn/19 ... iewer.html

I see that the pieces are not displayed on the diagram. Tried various browsers (apart from Lynx)

Anyone else experiencing this ?

Re: British Championship Congress 2019

Would anyone like to hazard a guess as to the number of move(s) that will be played on board four in the Championship in round 7 ?

There are previous Richard vs Nick games in the db and total number of moves is

8 + 9 + 1 = 18

I'm thinking it was probably when Simon Small was an active professional
I confess that's not a name I remember at all.
He was in the same team as Syd Little and Eddie Large.

Re: Chess-playing Fellows of Royal Society

John Cornforth had a brief spell playing for Wycombe Wanderers - I didn't realise he was an FRS. John Cornforth (born 7 October 1967 is a former Wales international football player and is now a coach, most recently Head Coach at English League Two side Torquay United. Originally from Whitley Bay in...

Re: British Championship Congress 2019

"If Andrew Smith doesn't do a Bobby Fischer, I will eat my hat" In a nice sense I hope! I'm not that optimistic of 100 %, but he is a dangerous opponent, full of good ideas. For your amusement I attach [Event "Lewisham Quickplay"] [Site "?"] [Date "1999.??.??"] [Round "?"] [White "Smith, Andrew P"]...
