Re: ECF Game Fee v Membership

How did the ECF let £6000+ of unpaid Game Fee accumulate? There is no way this is one year's unpaid Game Fee - what sort of organisation was/is in place to make sure that Leagues, Congresses etc., not only paid but also paid the right amount (not too much or too less)?

Re: What is wrong with the ECF ?

Maybe we should ask if the ECF stopped existing would the majority of players notice? Personally with the exception of the grading list I think not

Re: Three Cheers For The ECF

In my opinion the two biggest development opportunities in English chess in recent years have been 4NCL and Basman's Chess Challenge - neither of which had very much to do with B/ECF.

Re: Three Cheers For The ECF

I can quite honestly say that the ECF has not enhanced my chess at any time during my 25 years of playing - okay they publish a grade, but this is simply the collation of the work the local graders actually do. What has enhanced my enjoyment are the unpaid and unheralded volunteers in the local leag...

Re: How to avoid conflict

I think the idea of OMOV is fine but how would the logistics be handled? One very big danger is that you go down the route of OMOV and all tha...

Re: How to avoid conflict

One thing that still puzzles me is how would OMOV actually work, I know the Devil is in the detail, but I presume a vote only come with membership?

Re: New online Chess Club

As far as I can see there are three problems: firstly in 1 min chess if you are white you lose three seconds whilst the board is loading, the game starts as soon as you agree to play rather than first move free (as on most other sites); the level of support within the group forums seems to be non ex...

Chris
If 6-monthly grading lists came into being, what would happen if a league didn't send in a mid-season return, but left everything until the end? Would the games played in the first six-months be discounted?
