Re: Plaskett and Woffinden's book on the "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" Fraud

James - we aren't going to agree on this subject, and I don't think either of us has anything new to add, so I shall wish you all the best and leave it there.

Regards

Re: Euro 2016

I watch with the sound off if possible - I used to listen to Radio 5 Live but my digital radio seems to be half a minute ahead of the pictures .../quote] The approved way of following test match cricket was to watch with the sound off whilst listening to TMS - unfortunately digital radio ruined tha...

Re: Not paying the entry fee

Soheil, I find it quite extraordinary that you investigated the possibility of delaying paying your entry fee in order to see how your first game went and then either paying (if you won) or withdrawing without paying (if you lost). It is also extraordinary that you publicly admit to having done so. ...

Re: What would you do?

Soheil I have not followed the intricacies of this business, but I can see one consistent piece of advice from all parties, both interested and disinterested: there is nothing more to be done, and your best of course of action is to move on to something new. I know it is very hard to let go of a pro...

Re: 2016 Candidates Moscow 10-29 March

They will be up against it whoever it is. I'm not sure if we are in for an exciting match as they are rather similar to one another. Depends what you mean by exciting, it will, as always, be interesting to see what openings they go for Hopefully we will see a few Berlin endgames before Jonathan get...

Re: 2016 Candidates Moscow 10-29 March

Who on earth is this hateful twerp running the press conferences and co-commenting with Ian? FM Dylan McClain from USA. Dylan McLain seems pleasant enough ... Not something you always hear Told you so. All in all <edit for clarity> on the official site </edit> the presentation of the games and all ...

Re: 2016 Candidates Moscow 10-29 March

The board names are wrong on the official site. According to the commentators, Karjakin - Caruana is a Sicilian, but the game with their names showing is a Catalan. I don't like being critical, but in view of the fuss about transmission rights (which I haven't had time to follow closely), that is po...

Re: 2016 Candidates Moscow 10-29 March

On the official site, it is pity that Miroshnichenko is not commentating any more. Dylan McLain seems pleasant enough, but not a particularly strong player, so I am not sure what value he adds. Nepomniachtchi is obviously very strong and can contribute a lot of ideas, but he gabbles too much and doe...

Re: 2016 Candidates Moscow 10-29 March

I gave up because it was not letting me tick the box I wanted to choose and not allowing me to use the slider tool at the bottom. I may try it on another computer, because it looks interesting.

00:00 on the official site means he has under a minute, not a loss on time.

The official site seems to have correct times (although only to hh:mm, rather than hh:mm:ss)

Re: 2016 Candidates Moscow 10-29 March

Deja vu in terms of the press conference. Vishy Anand sits there not volunteering anything and not being asked any questions. It seems both cruel and pointless to require a player to turn up if no one asks him for a comment.

Re: 2016 Candidates Moscow 10-29 March

Just saw the press conference with Caruana and Anand. Is there any point to these without good questioning from the interviewer? Vishy managed to get through it without being asked a question and without making a single comment!

Re: Nakamura "J'adoube" Controversy

Nick - you are right that Jimmy White on several occasions in tournaments declared a foul against himself for feathering the ball, but I don't think it happened at 17-17 in the deciding frame of a world final v Hendry, although I am sure he would have owned up if the situation had arisen. In that ma...
