I don't know what's worse, losing away to wolves or throwing away a 4 goal lead.

Re: 6 monthly grades

How will this effect season long tournaments? Would the club be expected to send in their games halfway through a competition or will they send them at the end of the season as per usual making the 6 month period irrelevant? And how would this effect people who play both in season long tournaments a...

Re: 6 monthly grades

What effect would this have on relatively inactive players (those who play less than 30 games a year)?

I have played 12 rated games (3 of those against unrated players) since September and in my club only 4 out of 23 of our players managed to play above 30 games last season (I was not one of them).

Re: This forum and the ECF

This not withstanding, some people do still note the similarity in names (and identical initials) and conclude that the Federation runs the Forum. That could be considered as a problem I agree, at the time it seemed a good choice of name when I moved the whole lot within 24 hours of getting a reque...

Might turn into KB vs K+3 (f,g & h).

Good to see Luke winning again!
Reports of his demise seem slightly premature, he's joint first with all to play for. :D

Re: New Year's Resolutions

My Resolutions. To give my all every time I play a rated OTB game (I would say every chess move I make but that ain't gonna happen). To Buy A Chess Set. To never say, "That's it! I'm giving up chess" To continue to refuse to study openings. To study endgames. To attempt 5 tactical puzzles a day. To ...

Look at Norway, and they look like they are going to get one.
No player representing England has been good enough to be world champion.

Re: Surrey's motion on grading for Council

Rather than age, why not experience? eg. Someones who has been playing 20 years is less likely (until old age becomes a factor) to change dramatically than someone who has only been playing for 2 or 3 years. I would agree with that completely. The problem is, how do you know how long they have been...

See the latest ChessBase article here: http://www.chessbase.com/newsdetail.asp?newsid=5736 Although the sarcasm is still there: You are standing for the post of FIDE Delegate in the forthcoming ECF elections. What made you decide to enter chess politics, and what are your intentions in case you win...
