Re: Possession of Mobile Phones

In 2007 I was legally declared disabled (COPD and a mild stroke), this meant I qualified for a motability car. So I decided to get my first modern mobile phone, based on the logic, to be driving around without a mobile phone is, for so many reasons illogical, one might wonder why it is not illegal! ...

Re: Chess as a symbol manipulation ability test.

Hello Bill, The reason I posted into the international section is, because chess is a universal human language, it matters not, how old you are, what race you are or what sex you are, OTB we all start equal. There is another universal language, it is the language of 'logic', the fact that we now kno...

Chess as a symbol manipulation test.

Hello,

Unlike most of the people here I don't see chess as an end in it's self, I see chess as a means to an end. I would like to die leaving the world a better place than I found it.

Re: Request to temporarily suspend the forum

Dear Carl and Jack May I respectfully request that you close down the forum for this afternoon. The reason is Akshaya Kalaiyalahan is playing live in the final round of the European Youth Chess Championships Under 12 Girls section which starts in a few minute. Everyone who wants the best for Englis...

Re: Death match

Chess Vibes is now to become part of Chess.com, which might explain why they were so keen to promote the Death Match ;-) http://www.chessvibes.com/breaking-chesscom-to-acquire-chessvibes Chess.com have been organising these Death Matches for some time now but as far as I know this is the first time...

Death match

Hello, I've come across something, that for me is new, so perhaps it might be new for others. It is something chess.com has done and might be the start of more money coming to players. I found out about it on Chess Vibes you can read the article here . Termed a bit melodramatically, a 'Death Match' ...

Re: Chess as a Sport in the UK

I've seen many instances of players losing weight after a tournament, one example I can clearly remember was when Short played Kasparov for the world title in the early 90s, and reading of him losing over two stone in three weeks. Around 20% of our body's energy budget is consumed by the brain, if t...

Re: Moronic bull

A good few years ago, I used to deliver trailor loads of fertilizer in half ton bags all over the place. One job I was given, was way up in the Pennines, when I got there, the thing that puzzled me was, it was not arable land, all that was there in terms of farming, were a few sheep dotted about. So...

Re: Feeling badgered?

As with most things I'm ambivalent about this one, on the one hand, we have cruelty to animals and on the other hand, we have the bigger picture. Nature culls ruthlessly, so if badgers are a vector for tuberculosis, then culling them is better for cattle and badgers. The moral problems start, if we ...
