To summarize (from my side)... in order to "fix" the grading system on should (in my opinion)... change the grading rules to read... For a win you score your opponent's grade plus 50; for a draw, your opponent's grade; and for a loss, your opponent's grade minus 50. Note that, if your opponent's gr...

Is it also possible to remove a "club" from a player? Is this done automatically over time or even at all? Your club list is made up of the clubs that graders have recorded next to your name in the last 2-3 years when they send in your results. I can include notes in the grading submission if I thi...

Where there are less than 30 games, grades are calculated by incorporating two previous seasons results. In such cases, the clubs from those previous seasons will also be shown. Actually, t...

You know whether it is longplay or rapidplay which is a start. You could also guess it is a junior event, if the dates of birth of all players makes them all juniors. Also you could guess it is a club event if the word club appears in the event name. I do know all this but I don't see that telling ...

Neville, As it happens, I am looking at more or less this very issue as I am typing this. It's slightly complicated by 1) There is no publicised way of a grader telling the grading system what sort of event it is. 2) The ECF membership list is not particularly up to date, and even if it was, the ver...

Neville,

Your recollection is sort of correct. It wasn't just for rapid improvers - your grade could go down as well as up. It was just for juniors.
