Re: BUCA Championships

but warwick had obviously been given lots of mis matches to be in such a low position in the final - durham 2 should have had to face a hard team to deserve their position. I think there has been a concerted effort to keep warwick from winning these championships for years and it has been revived in...

Re: BUCA Championships

What a stitch up - putting Warwick against oxford in the last round - they should have been in 4th place without that dubious pairing. It was like last time we had an inter university at warwick, and were in first place and the arbiter screwed us over by not considering the fact we had more match po...

Re: Chess Fighting Cards

Michael Adams deserves more then a 2 for his middlegame play - and his endgame is pretty decent as well.

Most likely, if it rings you will still lose the game regardless of its accessability.

Re: Mobile Phone problems at local league level.

As far as I am concerned, in anything other then large events such as tournaments or 4ncl, the team captains are considered to be the arbiters and so can decide whatever they like

Re: Mobile Phone problems at local league level.

Groups of players 'analysing' an interesting game nearby is probably the biggest noise you are likely to encounter when playing a long game, and it tends to come at really inconvenient times too - and also the chance is high that the offenders will even be your own team mates!

Re: Mobile Phone problems at local league level.

I played a match against Staffordshire recently and we used a rule where your phone had to go off twice for you to lose the game - that seemed more fair as, try as you might, alot of people do not check their phones carefully enough before a match and one or two accidentally get left on. The rule is...

Re: ECF National Counties Rapidplay and Handicap Rapidplay

I will be up for it if you organise one I would get a warwickshire team together (even if I have to drag my players to the venue kicking and screaming ....) Cyril Johnson did a club rapldplay last year which worked very well by having a late start, short games, and only small breaks between rounds m...

Its 'Just a game'

i really get sick of hearing that bloody catchphrase - you almost hear it from non playing women. Just a game is spending a few minutes or maybe even an hour having a friendly mess about with no consequences - not spending an entire evening, weekend or even whole week playing - that is more then a g...

Re: My Strange County Chess Problem

That would be pretty cool although, like poker, having an early advantage in chess does not prevent an opponent from getting lucky and skanking an undeserved win later on...

My Strange County Chess Problem

Hello there. I have an unusual problem which has been happening in my county games ever since I started playing - I always get black! It has become more then just a little joke now after 5 years of playing, and I even organise the team around this strange phenomenom (putting the stronger white playe...

Re: ChessCube.com

I am on chess cube (I actually joined after seeing the link on these vary forums, ironically enough) and anyone wanting to find and play me can do so by looking for the T_Chex, I usually have TyrannosaurusCHEX but it was too long for chesscube and this has been my only real criticism of the site oth...

The Snow

I was wondering, will many people be willing to brave the terrors of the (predicted) fresh snowfall which we are due to face this week or would discretion be the better part of valour in this case?
