Re: ECF Accredited Coaches
I've been an ECF accredited coach for a few years now and been contacted at most 5 times. But some of those were probably because I ran a local junior chess club (with website), or because I am now the SCCU Junior Organiser. It is good if coaches are accredited, and they should be CRB cleared, but I...

Re: UnRated Players in Rated Competitions?
Having returned to club chess after many years absence I got an unofficial rapidplay rating of 100 by beating 6 opponents. My standard play grade was 169 (the realistic figure). If someone wants a false rating there is not much we can do about it - they just deliberately lose games. For a new player...

Re: New online Chess Club
I've greatly enjoyed Chesscube, having not played much online chess before. I even have a reasonably realistic grading. Re: Free Chess Sets for schools
"They are being asked to request them " No where on the ECF website is that clear. It was clear on my local MP's website, so I contacted his office. They told me to contact the ECF office. I don't think our school has yet been hit in any of the directions you mention. I'll let you know when they hav...

Re: Free Chess Sets for schools
Great to hear that they are good quality sets. :D I see that our School's MP (Tom Brake) has said we should contact him to find out how to get a set. "If any school would like to receive these free chess sets then please contact Tom Brake's constituency office urgently on 020 8255 8155." (http://www...

Re: Free Chess Sets for schools
One question - what sort of sets are these? Presumably not the normal plastic sets used by most clubs.
How tall are the kings, what is the size of the squares on the board?
Is there a picture somewhere on the web of the sets?
