Re: How many players have defected since the membership chan

3) We get all our games in foreign, (eg English), congresses graded, should we submit the results. (It is all results or nothing) A benefit about to be withdrawn by the ECF. The withdrawal of grading games played outside England has not been decided - it will be voted upon at the AGM. There will be...

Re: Letter to Mayor of London from Moscow Federation

[quote="The loss of ECF revenue from Yorkshire's decision to maintain a separate grading system is higher than I thought, if these estimates are correct.[/quote] Hi Roger, I was merely adding weight to your argument that there are a large number of games that aren't reported to FIDE. I don't underst...

Re: Letter to Mayor of London from Moscow Federation

So Roger. You are stating there are a lot of games being played in England which fall under the radar of FIDE.
A similar analogy could be made of games in Yorkshire that fall under the ECF radar.

Re: Letter to Mayor of London from Moscow Federation

that playing chess has a beneficial impact on academic performance in schools and London could play a key role in the revival of the sport in England

I find it interesting that Mr Palikhata refers to chess as a sport.

Re: Interview with ECF President CJ de Mooi

I'm the current YCA President and also one of the website editors. The Yorkshire committee haven’t discussed the ECF candidate votes yet. The fact we have published the interview does not necessarily show support for CJ. The CJ interview was discussed by the website editorial team and put on our s...

Re: Chess in India

Well said Stewart, I think this development is far more worrying than FIDE electing a few Vice Presidents prematurely. Maybe the 150 Indians can be adopted and registered by the ECF so their appeals can be heard. Of course this would probably require a ludicrously high transfer fee. Thanks Kevin for...

Re: Membership year vs grading year

Yorkshire have lost their one-legged facility, so no games in the local Yorks leagues will be nationally graded unless like Leeds or the weekend league, they sign up for Bronze/ £2 per head. The equivalent would presumably apply to the Hull Congress, that, like Scarborough, it would have to sign u...

Re: Membership year vs grading year

Under one soultion it would be easier if the membership year was the same as the grading year. An alternative is to withdraw the league from grading. Outside of Yorkshire, players appear to want to retain participation in national grading. On what grounds do you make this assumption Roger? At the Y...

Re: ECF loses case

Does anybody know if they are due to pay costs and how much - or at least a share with the other parties. If so it will be interesting to see if the ECF will be asked to chip in.

Re: Compulsory Membership?

Harry, you are always most welcome in God’s own county – as are all chess players from Lancashire and elsewhere. I am finding this thread somewhat amusing that certain people are jumping to conclusions about chess in Yorkshire when they have seemingly not played in the county. I find the whole s...
