Re: Touch move rule
In my last tournament - about 14 months ago - my opponent kept saying "adjust" when he adoubed the pieces. Perhaps that is common usage now. Indeed. Re: Media comments on chess
Susan Polgar was interviewed about Carlsen's victory by Eddie Mair on Radio 4's PM at about 17:20, not much of interest in the interview. There was some gentle mockery of the match commentary just before the chat.

Terrible news, Richard was a fine player and servant of chess as captain of Hastings and the Sussex county team. RIP Richard.

Re: How to improve?
I guess, then, that I should generally avoid exchanging pieces! Don't avoid it as a rule, just make sure you can see a concrete reason for exchanging (maybe some doubled pawns you can attack as per your example). If you can't see a benefit then wait a while. In the case of a pin, in most cases the ...

Re: How to improve?
A draw at last! This is a game I played at Hammersmith last night, with White. Usually, I lose my games there; the players are a lot stronger than me. As such, I'm quite pleased with this one. It was a rapid one (30 min) and my flag did fall, but we played on. I've not been through it myself yet, b...
