Re: drunk french super gm Forfeits game

Ola - surely the young Bobby was tall, good looking and the complete opposite of the typical chess nerd. He certainly never wore a funny green hat

Re: drunk french super gm Forfeits game

Didn't Igor Ivanov have a similar problem. I recall a NIC article about a US Championship round where Igor turned up with a thermos flask which apparently contained vodka which he presumed to consume at a rate of knots.

Re: More Moderators?

I have voted yes. Carl does a great job but it must be a lot of work - and, perhaps, a little tiresome at times. I mean I know I sometimes produce some right old rubbish but, I mean, look at some of the other stuff  So, if Jack wants to have a go, the majority are in favour and, most importantl...

Re: Barbican Youth

Ah Gavin - not everyone who has played for Barbican Youth is aged 12 and graded over 200 ECF. Others who have appeared with a degree of regularity include John Hodgson, David Coleman and also, up until last year, Julian Farrand (who is even older than me!). The idea of the Barbican Youth team (as ha...

Re: In search of a President

Thanks for this CJ - the fact that we get a response on our Forum is great. Hopefully, you will be able to do this - within reason, of course - when you are elected!!

Re: In search of a President

Thanks CJ for this - which makes it even clearer why you are the guy to go for. One small thing - are you thinking of returning to playing. Even if occasionally.

What do you do for a living

One thing my wife always asks - and I never know - is what does your opponent do or your teammates do. I have been a teammate of a guy for thirty years and I have no idea what he does for a living. Why would I but still strange. To start you off, I work as a consultant for a logistics company. I can...

Re: ECF FIDE Delegate

Delegate to FIDE - Nigel against Gerry! Gerry may have done good things - but Martin Regan has said it all on another thread. Vote for Nosher - oh and Carl, Nigel may be a member - and his posts were a bit over the top - but Gerry isn't and doesn't and obviously never will.

For those Forum members with a sense of humour, I would recommend this. Well it made me laugh and I was sober.

Nappies are generally easier than light bulbs - mainly because the baby is not on the ceiling.
