Re: 2020 European Online Chess Championships

The players account appears to still be active https://www.chess.com/member/harut-1998 I played through his game against Van Foreest https://www.chess.com/live/game/4846815282?username=joppie2 It is an interesting game. It perhaps demonstrates nothing more acutely than that fair play is a complex ar...

Re: 2020 European Online Chess Championships

Its a bit worse than the two FM's - the entire first two pages of people don't have a single marked rating under 1700. Seems thoroughly broken before they started? I think this is a bit unfair because given a tournament of this length, a winning player is likely to see their rating rise substantial...

Re: 2020 European Online Chess Championships

7 out of the top 20 banned for cheating in the 1400 - 1700 preliminary section (and 19 players out of 901 banned in total). 5 out of the top 6 banned for cheating in the 1400 - 1700 section final (and 10 players out of 254 banned in total). As with the U1400 section, the obvious question is whether...

Re: ECF Finance Meeting

I think rugby league is fairly popular in the constituencies that the Conservatives won for the first time at the last general election. If Jon Tait and the rest of Mansfield Chess Club put forward a submission for a grant to aid Community Chess, They might have a chance :D

Re: 4NCL Online

Roger,
I can go on the Lichess website now and it tells me that there are 67,000 active players now and 33,000 games in progress. If we use your figures, what would that mean for the number of false positives that we would be getting each day? and is that really credible.

Re: 4NCL Online

Roger,
Take away the opening moves and the moves where you have an overwhelming advantage and the assessment (for anti-cheating purposes) is based on very few moves, indeed perhaps just 1. Whilst 11..... Nxd4 is certainly good, I don't think you'll get a ban for that one.

Re: 4NCL Online

Not that it is anything to do with the 4NCL but the ECF Blitz over this weekend does prove that you can cheat more than once against titled players in full view with absolutely no shame, and a ridiculous handle, and you still won't get banned either by the ECF or the platform. There were a lot of l...

Re: 4NCL Online

Lichess is looking at more parameters that Ken Regan’s software, for example window switching. If lichess is going to ban players for window switching, organisers using their platform need to warn potential entrants to the competitions being run on their servers. Equally lichess should stop making ...

I can see my comment, but cannot see any others.
I can see your comment as well. It appears to be the only one so far.
I see Ian’s comment too. I think answer to his question is quite simple. Lichess is looking at more parameters that Ken Regan’s software, for example window switching.

Re: 4NCL Online

They would doubtless argue that as a private club they can eject people for any reason, just because they feel like it, same as a shop can refuse to serve you... The 4NCL is a private Company, but a national chess body like the ECF should express caution before getting involved with "a private club...

For those of you who don’t use Dropbox. Here is the statement Lichess statement on cheating in the 4NCL Online Following recent high-profile cheating within the 4NCL Online, held on lichess.org, we want to make a short statement to calm the speculation on social media. Lichess is a charity, predomin...
