Re: Emergency Board Meeting - Draft Minutes

Guys, this was a compromise by the Board (at my expense) to get rid of Andrew Paulson as President immediately. He has now gone - and good riddance too. On the downside, he now has 7 votes in his favour, out of c.300 at the Council meeting. Hopefully the ECF members will have the good sense not to ...

Re: Fide Master Charlie Storey seeks good 4NCL Team

I think you must be on drugs How can anybody who hasn't been rated over 2300 over the last 14 years be worth £150 a game http://ratings.fide.com/id.phtml?event=406686 Sorry the last FIDE congress I saw you at when you lost a couple of games at Sheffield British in the major open and withdrew, i th...

Re: Fide Master Charlie Storey seeks good 4NCL Team

£300 for a (good) FM. Not sure what the going rates are but I know one London based GM that regularly plays in rapid play events with £60 first prize (£40 if you deduct the entry fee)... so not sure if you will get takers? but interestingly perhaps team captains could tentatively suggest what the...

Re: Should Andrew Paulson resign as ECF President?

It could be argued here that this poll is more reflective / accurate than the recent voting by the directors at the EGM as I for one find it bizzare that so many directors abstained when voting in the no confidence motion in the case of NS and so overwhelmingly for in the case of AP. One could argue...

Re: Should Nigel Short resign as FIDE delegate?

Resign for what? For being re-elected unopposed? For being consistently pro-Kasparov (rather than pretending to be something I am not)? Resign for exposing a dodgy signed deal between Andrew Paulson and the President of FIDE? Resign for failing to have a harmonious relationship with the man who wro...

Re: Emergency Board Meeting - Draft Minutes

excellent find Chris. Although it looks a certainty that Paulson will be going or gone by April 12th I am intrigued as to who he has lined up in his coup attempt to replace the current directors (assume all those that voted against him) Perhaps he will name his proposed team here on this forum? In a...

Re: Emergency Board Meeting - Draft Minutes

Are Nigel & Andrew so at loggerheads that they cannot see the damage being done? Would you rather not know about the true nature of Andrew Paulson's relationship with Kirsan? Would you rather not know how this American interloper who, up until a couple of years ago, had no prior interest in or conn...

Re: Emergency Board Meeting - Draft Minutes

Cheers Angus To be honest most of those sitting on the ECF probably have their own agendas. I take on board your rebuttal of Short's assumptions regarding the ownership of Argon. Are there any honest candidates out there to contest the FIDE delegates position (NS) and ECF presidents position (AP)? O...

Re: Emergency Board Meeting - Draft Minutes

Cheers Roger I have googled Paulson and found this reasonable synopsis on the current situation here: http://www.chessvibes.com/andrew-paulson-elected-as-president-of-the-english-chess-federation My view.... As I suspected it seems he has/had a lot of business clout and contacts and probably promise...

Re: Emergency Board Meeting - Draft Minutes

Malcolm Pein has covered the story in his Daily Telegraph column. Want to read his thoughts? Buy today's Daily Telegraph. I will rely on one of our good citizen readers here doing a cut and paste :) I am sure it is an interesting read but not so interesting that I would pay hard cash for a copy of ...

Re: Stockport Rapidplay Sunday 26 January 2014

but was the milk and sugar free at the coffeegate rapidplay? :) I recently was going to purchase a can of diet coke in a shop in Bakerstreet station but when I was informed it was £1.35 I left it at the counter. not being a coffee drinker I have no idea whether £1.75 is an extortionate price or no...
