Re: Sanctions for those proven to have cheated?
Sorry for any confusion Sean The jist of my gripe is with the ECF!!..... sending the kid a Warning Letter...that's what got my back up... You did the absolute correct thing and at least sent out a message that that sort of behaviour will not be tolerated in your tournaments Regards Martin

Re: Sanctions for those proven to have cheated?
Jack... quote...He was ruled to have lost the game and was immediately disqualified from the tournament. That an adequate punishment for cheating in your book?...unquote Of course that is not an adequate punishment...It is a given that the kid knew he would be immediately disqualified from the tourn...

Re: Sanctions for those proven to have cheated?
I heard the story from one of my chess friends last night that a 14 year old junior was caught red handed cheating at a recent e2e4 event... I was told that his opponent became very suspicious of the perfect moves he was playing when he got up from the board every single time that it was his move an...

Re: no recognition for finalists
Detailed response below from my team captain and Middlesex open team captain....Anthony Fulton (19-02-2011) Martin, You have certainly stirred up a hornets nest!!! Your response and those echoing you shows the short-sightedness of the ECF, and yes even if there may not have been too many dissenting ...

Re: no recognition for finalists
good to see some interesting comments on the topic...here is my updated feedback...perhaps more food for thought? so far..... Alex mentioned that perhaps he was of the opinion that such prizes were perhaps only suitable for juniors and that adults ought not to be too bothered about such things. Alex...

Re: no recognition for finalists
the bigger picture... ah yes I can see it now..... if every player had my view... there would be a nice big empty basketball court in Leicester on July 2nd 2011 :) I don't give a monkeys about the £500 the ECF needs to find... Football players, Rugby players , Cricket players get very nice recognit...

no recognition for finalists
yes that was the disgraceful case in the 2010 finals in Leicester... I was disgusted to only learn on the day a few minutes before the event that there would be no medals or trophies for any of the compeditors last year. Had I known in advance I would never have bothered to make the journey from Lon...

Re: London withdraws bid for 2012 World Championship
an excerpt from a feedback email that I sent to one of the organisers is below....at least Gelfer's open letter throws a lot of light on the matter of some of the background politics..... just had a quick read of Gelfer's response to the withdrawal of the London bid.... I am very sympathetic to Gelf...

Re: The Barbican 1996 and Slough 1997 Affairs

I came across this forum / discussion by chance. there were many participants and villians in this affair... Adams,...
