Re: Bangkok Open 2016

Stephen Gordon is on 5/6 and well in the running...the BKK open is fast becoming one of the top tournaments in the world...it was always no.1 in my opinion for quality of venue and playing conditions.

Bangkok Open 2016

Nigel Short is having a tough time losing again this morning to IM Wynn Zaw Htun- rated 2407 (I drew with him in 2004 when he was rated 2460). that appears to be the end of Nigel's chances of winning the tournament. He is now on 4/6 with 3 rounds to go. https://chess24.com/en/watch/live-tournaments/...

Re: Quality of club venues

Greenford chess club once played a league match in the men's toilet of the British Legion because their regular room was booked. That was more than 10 years ago. I think I played on board 2 or 3 for Greenford. Not suprisingly, I have forgotten who we played or if we won or lost the match.

Re: Court case

funnily enough the more I think about the child abuse that occurred here - the more I think that the real culprits were the children's parents. (they seem to have got off scot free). (Obviously Curtis will get what's coming to him on April 22nd!) Bill, fyi I already sorted out a matter in an establi...

Re: Court case

Matt (sent you a pm) back to the matter in hand... I am not aware of any court gagging order so let the discussions commence! adding some more levity to such a serious matter...some people (not me I hasten to add) would pay good money for that kind of thing.... I think the reverend might find a new ...

Re: Court case

Matthew and Jonathan you are probably both right...this could well be soon swept under the carpet....already people talking about not discussing this case until after sentencing....who knows...guy might get banged up or a tap on the wrist with a suspended sentence? I just find it an interesting stor...

Re: Court case

all joking aside this is a major embarrassment for the ECF... I did not realise the guy was a former BCF director. I think going forward this makes for a good case for vetting people in responsible positions..... Once you have done the vetting and something like this occurs later you have covered al...

Re: ECF AGM aftermath

ok a couple of things really jump off the page here firstly the difference of 1 vote between MP and DO on the original count and then on the recount the difference is reversed by 22 votes (that stinks) ....who did the original count? perhaps they should be banned from serving on the board for 10 yea...

Re: World Disabled Chess Championships, 17-25 October, Dresden

Plenty of things don't necessarily impinge upon one's ability to play chess. Being aged under 18, being aged over 50, being female, being a member of a particular nationality. But events exclusively for people who fit into one of those categories are established features of the chess calendar. Why ...
