Re: No Comment?

At Llandudno I remember having the choice of the onsite commentary (with audience interaction, visits from players who went through their games) and (in my hotel room) the offsite commentary which wasn't even particularly knowledgeable about the players taking part. I guess it's all about the budge...

Re: No Comment?

The mediocre conditions for commentary in Bournemouth and Llandudno would certainly suggest it was all too much trouble for the organisers. I thought the decision had been taken to provide commentary from outside. From the ECF budget for 2017/18: " It is proposed to provide an online commentary ser...

Re: Old Chestnut

Can I say we have gone off at a tangent from the original Old Chestnut about inclusion of female players. Can the discussion of venues go elsewhere please - I have several things to say (unfortunately) on this subject! I hope that the stats I produced (four women players out of 310+ in the s...

Re: Semi finals 2019

A lovely report by owen from surrey. It should be a good final v Yorks. And Manchester will be competitive in the future. As for my accumulator on 0 teams in finals from Lancs I lost. I was not expecting match defaults but perhaps holidays, cricket, women's world cup, or D-day meant chess players n...

I had a idea that the semi and finals should be played like the 4ncl in the open and minor section
The losing sei-finalists would go home after the first day?
You could do a 3rd/4th place play off? It just a idea with 12 boards

Re: Needing to be ECF member to play in British Championships?

In the handful of tournaments I have previously run I was happy to accept non-ECF members even though it was inconvient because I thought this encourages people to play OTB chess rather than online. Stipulating that people must be an ECF member to play an event makes it more prohibitive to do this....

Well - semi-finals tomorrow. Perhaps a count of female participants?
Well I know I have not got any female playing but I would not have a problem to pick a woman.

I did not asked certain people due to the following

Re: Counties Championship 2018-19

I do think we need to move with the times ..... you need to move with the time Sorry John, that won't do. As I explained, and you do not respond, for players in the Southeast the County Championship works pretty well. I suspect if it doesn't work well where you are, the only reason is that your peo...

Re: Counties Championship 2018-19

what are people views on the counties championship and how to shake up the rules etc? It would be nice if people from your way could sort out their differences! I am ignorant of the historical rights & wrongs and am happy to remain so. Seriously, from where I sit ( in London ) there isn't much that...
