And Muir finally throws in the towel leaving Young on a very respectable 2.5/6.
With a sub 2000 rating he's not even eligible for a rating prize!
I did say that to the ECF and I feel that the ECF should have offer a Rating prize for U2050

Re: County Championship Finals

I wonder if people can recommend venues for finals day, like there got to be somewhere in Birmingham that you could find?

Re: ECF grand prix

The Grand Prix runs each year from 1st July to 30th June so does mean that the 20187/18 is over Grand Prix Leader Boards 2017/18 as at 9th July 2018 – here Please note – players shown in the orange rows are counting the maximum number of events Tradewise Most Improved Player Leader Boards 2017/18 as...

Re: Director of Home Chess

the big question is who is better then alex to do the job? I know I have question some of his thinking, but the end of the day, he is trying to do what is best for chess! he has try and fix the County Championship and I hate to say this, but the event is great in the south, but in the north, it is j...

Re: British championship grading sections in the main event

Kevin, no not all - I would argue that all the players at that rating are paying a higher entry fee and so deserve a shot at a grading prize. but the people that are below that don't have any chance of winning and I'm asked the ECF to either change the grading prize to include 2050 and under or do ...

Re: British championship grading sections in the main event

>they should have done this as 2200 and under.< I have just read this thread and I am amazed nobody has analysed the fairly obvious objectives. I skimmed a bit and may have missed that point though. The principal has always been that anybody should be able to qualify for the British Chess Champions...

Re: British championship grading sections in the main event

Just a thought on an alternative on the rating prize debate - what you could do is make those u2051 eligible for the rating prize, but on the basis that they are rated as a 2051. you would this so, but no one from the ecf has offer that or doing a u2501 and under, what is an extra £250?, you might ...

Re: British championship grading sections in the main event

i do understand the ECF need to make a stand, but if you are grading this year as under 2051, and paying £300 to play in the main championship to win nothing, what is the point of them entering the event, if they have qualifying, my thing is that maybe they should have done an u2051 and below gradin...

Re: British championship grading sections in the main event

if someone has qualifying for the event, they should be able to try and win something, an person who is under 2051 and wanted to play, will have to pay £300 to win nothing!! Maybe the ECF need to just give a small grading prize like £250, at least it is something to play for. As I said before, if th...

Re: British championship grading sections in the main event

one of my mates, was saying that his grade is below 2051, and wanted to play the open section, he would lose £300 as he would not be able to qualify for the grading prize? they should have done this as 2200 and under Why does he want to play in the “Open” section? the reason he wanted to play in th...
