Re: In BOD we trust!

  I thought England came close, though. There was that moment late in the second half, before the French drop goal, when there was a breakaway and an England player had a simple pass to his left to set up an England try under the posts. That would have brought England back to being only...

Re: Civil Service games

I think you can blame the fancy dress on the Welsh. We started doing it on the Saturday night discos. Other regions slowly joined in and now it's all part of the course. I didn't attend the CSSC games this year as it was too expensive. Yes it's subsidised but they only knock say £50 off for a room ...

Peter Lalic - road to....?

I thought I'd start a thread to say how impressed I am with the rise of Peter Lalic.

For those of you who aren't following him, his stats for the British are here.

With some a strong chess environment at home I'm sure it's only a matter of time before he gets a title like his parents!

Re: National Girls' Chess Championships - Success.

Wow! Jovanka has done an amazing thing by giving up her time FREE OF CHARGE  to help improve the quality of girls chess. I assume she has to make a living as well and giving up your free time in this economic climate is something to be applauded :D I would have charged I think  as woul...

Re: National Girls' Chess Championships - Success.

Hi Sabz, I just read 4 pages of fun! Well done on another successful initiative! Saying that, I do understand the negative points. Hopefully you can clear this up for me? Say I took my daughter to this event (ignore for the moment I'm not English and lets say she's 6 years old for argument's sake). ...

Re: Most Annoying Behaviour?

There was a very annoying Junior playing on the bottom boards of the Sunningdale Major last weekend . He continually felt the urge to re-position his pieces announcing "ADJUST" rather loudly as he did so . His record was a four piece combination....."ADJUST...ADJUST...ADJUST....ADJUST" . :x Surely ...

I've decided I prefer opens to majors so even if I did enter I fear we wouldn't meet. I'm sure our pathes will cross at some point however :)
