Re: Mobile Phone problems at local league level.

Hi, Personally i think people using a mobile phone during a game chess for "ordinary" calls is totally unacceptable, there is too much risk in the cheating element for this to be allowed Remember, it is still forbidden to discuss the game with anybody whilst still playing (personally or on a phone),...

Re: Mobile Phone problems at local league level.

Hi, The main thing here is why do people want there mobile phone switch on of any reason during a chess game (remember messages can be left on voicemail) It isn't that hard to switch them off, and it is really your own fault for being forgetful and not turning it off (although I think Nigel Short's ...

Re: Mobile Phone problems at local league level.

I wasn't aware of the rule prohibiting leaving the board when it's one's turn to move Anthony, There isn't a rule stopping you from leaving the board, but whilst away from the board it is illegal to talk about your game to anybody, except your captain in team matches regarding draw offers, but then...

Re: Mobile Phone problems at local league level.

Hi, I believe that having the loss rule for mobile should exist in local leagues as well, we all play under FIDE rules. So having different rules for individual leagues would become very confusing, so standardising the rules is the most sensible idea My view is how hard is it to turn off a phone bef...

Re: 2010 GIBTELECOM CHESS FESTIVAL

Hi,

Adams and Gustafsson are definitely there

By having the 6.5 playing they expected that one or more could make is above Pons and Movsesian

So I expect that Movsesian is definitely out, and maybe even Pons depending on other results

Re: e2e4 Uxbridge International Women's Invitational

Loz,

Isn't ironic with all the discussions around the 4NCL female player rule, you cannot even get 10 female players to play in a decent all-play-all event

Re: Female Player Rule

I have to agree with Peter is someway When 3Cs were playing in the 4NCL we found it alot easier to get Dutch female players playing for us in the 4NCL, though we did this because of the lack of depth in British female players to be able to compete at the top level It seems like there is a general fa...

Re: Female Player Rule

Regarding the loan of a 3Cs player From what I remember is that Robyn Smith was originally registered as 3Cs, but was unlikely to play so we allowed her to play for Poisoned Pawns to get experience But I think what happened one weekend, with agreement from team captains, was that Robyn played on Sat...

Re: Female Player Rule

Loz, My view is why should somebody rated lower than myself get paid for playing in the 4NCL, especially in the top division. Shouldn't this be a privilege for these players to get that opportunity and chances for better games, even opportunities for Norms I have to pay my own way in all weekends of...

Re: County Championships: ECF stages

Hi, These comments around Greater Manchester are rather pointless, regardless of whether the county exists or not, you are unlikely see the majority of Greater Manchester players ever playing for Lancashire, and there is most probably some people in the Lancashire set up who still don't want Manches...

Re: Female Player Rule

There isn't a problem with having a female player rule, the main problem is how it is currently being exploited by some female players. Knowing that teams are forced to have a female player, it is giving them the power and unjust power of asking for conditions, and for purely amateur teams this is a...

Re: County Championships: ECF stages

Alex, Sorry, to be a little perdantic, but Greater Manchester did exist, and I was born in it. I still think there is divisions on both sides, and there are most probably people from Lancs and GMan who would be opposed to merging. The ironic thing at the moment, is that I live in Manchester area, bu...

Re: Coaches for International Junior Events 2010

Hi, I think that the 3 "young coaches" going to the world have been quite active in their chess coaching recently, especially within schools and youth players, and once the selection of the players have been made I presume that they would start working with their players more intensely These players...

Re: Report: ECF Board meeting @ Hinckley Island 16th January

Hi, Going back to Ben's point about the British v Czech comparisons, I played the British for 3 years on the bounce and found them enjoyable (Torquay 02, Edinburgh 03, Scarborough 04). Since then I have always played a tournament abroad due to the fact I am using 2 weeks of work holidays and don't r...
