I am predicting a close encounter and my money is on Anand to win!
Hope he don't let me down.

Re: Has Modern technology taken chess to the next level!
I don't necessarily agree with this comment. The future has become something different with modern technology we would not be able to cope without it I feel.

Re: Is the French Defense going out of Fashion?
Well Alan, I must be playing it wrong thats all I can assume. My favourite variation is possibly the Winawer 3. Bb4, I have had some success with this line.

Re: Is the French Defense going out of Fashion?
Hello, I do somewhat feel maybe I should start playing the french again, I do believe perhaps it is under- rated, I did use to play it as black and cannot really remember a justified reason for giving it up think probably I just wanted to try a new repertoire. Also Simon, if sometime your able to ge...

Is the French Defense going out of Fashion?
Hello All, glad to be back I was just wondering is the French defense at top- level and even amateur level running out of steam. I personally do not seem to be seeing it much these days. The likes of the c5, e5 and c6 are seemingly more popular. I for one am starting to study the caro kann as black ...

Re: Guest Players in League Matches
Hi, I play for a club with the likes of probably five or six titled players and I personally find it beneficial in my own performance; however the argument I guess is its a amateur league and therefore should professionals be paid £30-50 a game, also I guess people think it's a privilege for those ...

Richard how can you say it's " remotely relevant" because nearly ever sport is televised on TV. So therefore I think it's extremely relevant.

Re: Is chess a sport? If not, then why not?
Yes Paul, whoever it was that created "chessboxing" can't be living in the real world I guess they were only trying to get "Major" sponsors and hope to get in as a programme on television Paul is this comment directed at me "Can you implement a "petulant child alert" button, forthwith, please?" :D :...

Re: Is chess a sport? If not, then why not?
I am not the only person alone making many grammatical mistakes it appears. "in a 10 minute gme, with 3 minute rounds of fighting, ill happily just sit for first 2 3 minute chess rounds and take on magnus or any top 100 chess player " This sentence has alot of grammer errors, although the point I am...

John, "There are not enough major sponsors of chess" might be a start."
That is exactly what I meant John. I think you will find.

Re: Is chess a sport? If not, then why not?
Ben to say this "in a 10 minute gme, with 3 minute rounds of fighting, ill happily just sit for first 2 3 minute chess rounds and take on magnus or any top 100 chess player " Why on earth would you say such a abhorrent thing. I think your purely alone on this one I don't see any salubrious, for you ...

Re: Is chess a sport? If not, then why not?
Ernie, the reason for those two too be televised snooker and darts on the BBC, is because there is much much more money involved and they are more popular than chess it's quiet simple. Also they are games, I agree with you compared to other sports like football and that, but to say chess is a sport ...

Re: Is chess a sport? If not, then why not?
Hi, In my experience I don't believe chess is a sport; it's not popular enough to be put on television in addition to this it's not involving enough physical activity, it's a game like many others such as darts and snooker etc, etc. Although snooker and darts is more of a sport than chess. I would c...
