Re: Talk Radio

It is clear that something rather sinister has happened, but I have heard that they will be back tomorrow.

There is a lot here even an offer from FIDE to provide a free lawyer if those accused of cheating cannot afford one!
Where is that?

Re: Invisible pieces

I think you have made the same mistake as Nigel Short - at least you admit your ignorance of what grey and white matter is (easily Googled by the way). No, I have not made a mistake, as you would realise if you had read what I wrote. It is true that I do not claim to have made myself an expert on n...

Re: Invisible pieces

Going back to where this started ( almost ), something has been niggling me. Quoting an article in New in Chess "Short stood his ground, framing it as a matter of biology - that men have roughly 6.5 times more grey matter and women 9.5 times more white matter". He didn't make that up, it presumably ...

Are English Arbiters self employed suppliers of services and are they affected by any EU rules post Brexit when working in the EU?
You would at least hope that their professional qualifications will be recognised.

My arbiting duties have finished, so I shall be watching with interest tomorrow and on Saturday.
I have just discovered during a phone call that I have spent the whole day thinking it was Saturday and it wasn't. Tomorrow is Saturday.

All of us pay for things we do not use ourselves, and rightly so.
I understand that, but it isn't the point. I expect you can watch ITV live via some satellite without paying money directly to a competitor of theirs, why can't I?

There have always been subscriptions for those sort of channels, Nick.
I know that very well. I just don't understand why I am required to pay money to the BBC if I want to watch ITV.

I fervently hope that the licence system stays in place, despite me just missing out on the free ones for O-75s. You have had a good run, but you are on the wrong side of history. The time is coming when if you want to watch programmes of a certain sort, you will have to pay for them yourself rathe...

Nakamura's recent record against Carlsen has improved a bit, but his deficit in classical games especially is still pretty vast.
And crucially, he has to qualify to play him first.
