Re: Cheating in chess

If the cheats knew how I was doing it, they can modify behaviours to stop me detecting meaning I have to develop more methods... Andy, Yes I do get that, at least in a limited way, but not here. I wonder whether the platform is saying that Parham is playing online blitz as well as Carlsen, to which...

Re: Cheating in chess

Any thoughts on the games? No, I don't do that. I wish you didn't have to keep relying on things that platforms "would be aware of". If they are comparing quality of play to a rating, why can they not reveal the rating they have in mind? The usual story is that if they revealed details of their met...

Yes they do - all titled player accounts are verified.
So what rating do you think they are using?

Yes, I know.
But do they? I wonder what they are using, is that one of the things they don't reveal?

1. The case against him seems to based on him playing better than expected for a player of his rating
For a player of his rating? He is one of the best blitz players in the world.

He should rewrite in APL or other more suitable language.
Perhaps, but he is a hobbyist doing this in his spare time. It is a substantial task.

If e-sport chess events are to continue once restrictions on free association of people are lifted, isn't it going to be necessary for big money and high prestige events to be played under conditions of physical supervision?
I have never been in any any doubt about that.

Re: Cheating in chess

Now I'm very impressed by the polynomials and the Aitkin curves not that I've got a clue what they are but what looks to be going on is that games are being put into some sort of "black box" which know one understands except the creator and we simply have to trust the results that come out of it ar...

Re: Cheating in chess

Before a GM is banned on chess.com the decision must be signed off by 3 GMs. I would assume that Lichess has a similar procedure in place. That doesn't give me much comfort. In a medical malpractice case, for instance, the prosecution never has any difficulty in finding expert witnesses to testify ...

Re: (Chess) Life Returning To Normal

But surely these posts do represent "Chess life returning to normal". A thread about chess life, or any sort of life, returning to normal in England will be vacuous for the foreseeable future. We can only live vicariously in other jurisdictions.
